I have been busy sorting out the Omni Wheel robot platform for BB8 Project, as you can see the thing seems to be going OK.

it is great fun to drive even with the awful DX5e I have at the moment. enjoy the video.

The new painted Sledge for Gabriel. this time fitted with a tether.

Under the rules normally, thwack or axle bots don't have to bother with these things as (in this case the hammer) is a part of the main body (because it is bolted directly to the body) of the machine. you don't tether any other panel to the robot do you!
But as Gabriel now swings the 14Lbs sledge head at quite a speed. it is probably just as well.

Bigger wheels for Gabriel because 800mm just isn't big enough!

I'm thinking of a different type of robot and thought of making a simple type feather pusher but go Steampunk!
would these do for the motors?

It would need gearing down but it would be different.

    Hi Dave
I always say "If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got." I'm doing this to see what effect it is going to have on the pushing power of the robot it isn't the final design but a test this information will help the next design step.
you build what you want to and see how it works. if we don't try new things we will be stuck with what we have, for me the whole point is to try something new. It's an inventors sport after all.
People will give advise and this is good, but the decision to try something is yours.
    I have a robot kettle,
    an 8 legged robot walker,
a HW robot that does hand stands,
and one that swings a 4 foot sword,
I win next to nothing but have loads of fun
Remember failure isn't a sin, but sometimes not trying is!
