Botbitz have an alternative in the TZ85's

And I'm going to test the BB 25A ESCfor raptor and featherweight applications.

I believe the BB 25A are suitable for the Gimson GR01's, if not overvolted.
At least Hannibalito 4 does the job with big wheels and a XL, and that is in the same amp range.

If you're running a single motor with each ESC, the 15a Electronize will do. If two motors; the 30a is advisable.

I can't comment on the Scorpion or Sabertooth ESCs as I have never used either.

However I don't really recommend the Electronize. I would have a year ago, but with the Botbitz guys in Australia now making 10a, 25a, and 85a ESCs specifically for robot use, for less than Electronize kit, much smaller and lighter, way more current handling for your buck, significantly nicer motor control and genuinely helpful, smart people that respond to all inquiries behind it all, I recommend Botbitz!

For 2 motors per ESC I'd go for the 85a (same price as a 30a Electronize!), or if just 1 motor per ESC, the 25a model. You may even be able to get away with two on the single 25a, not sure if that has been tested yet, though.

Jamie and I are using them at the moment in FWs, we're having issues with reliability. In the arena they've not broken once, but some of them just seem to randomly break when not even in use.

Lucky me that I have bought a few spares then.

Ooh yeah, reminds me that I need to contact them to see what they think. A job for this weekend.

For those that are interested, the problem is that the controller (25A one) randomly stops performing the way it should. Instead of full proportional control, it only spins the wheel in one direction with no proportionality, it's either on or off. And when joystick is released, the motor coasts to a stop rather than brakes. No reverse control whatsoever.

I've had one out of four do it, and Tony had one out of two. I'll ask Steve/Aaron about it and post the findings. Hopefully just a bug/batch issue. I'd still recommend the Botbitz controllers as the best low-cost option.

Yep, Team RCC has several Scorpion XXL's Ilyama version in use.
Hannibalito 3 uses that now for 5 years.
    Conclusion.
Bomb proof, easy to use. Next thing to sliced bread.

    But not cheap.

That is why we're testing the BB-25A-ESC's.
