I was wondering if any one new what the hobby king radio stuff is like? cos for £14 you cant really go wrong?

Cool thanks, might look into getting one of those Game (like play-station or Xbox) style controllers of eBay instead as they may be a bit more comfortable and are a similar price I am not looking for anything fancy really.

Anyone know of a lightweight small controller, something more comfortable and light weight than aeroplane/helicopter controllers. I'm looking for something more like a game controller? And one know of one?

This is about right but what i would say is they are reliable. They work and I've never had any problems with them ever. The build quality of the case is a cheap moulded plastic, suit me in therms of its shape but theat's just personal opinion. We've used the wheel ones on BOOM for a while and they've never had a probem i the arena.

As for games style controllers, depends what you want them for. Have seen these

never tried them. Quite sure they'be fine for messing with at home but not for in the arena

Cool I might try the blade ones as the other ones look a bit crude. And I don't know if I would trust them with a robot but thanks for the help any way. And as for servo reversing with the blade, I think I could just quiet easily wire in a few switches to get them to reverse, depending on the internal wiring. But if there wired like normal transmitters then I should be able to, unless the potentiometers are built into the circuit board then it would be quiet a bit harder. But for 20 quid you can't really go wrong! Thanks.

i tried 1 of the blade controllers (under a different name but looked the same) and it struggle to keep a signal when it was at the other end of the arena from me, i had to hold the tx over my head to keep it working but my robot was 5mm steel all round which might have blocked the signal a bit so if used in a plastic robot it might work fine

Ahh right, that might be an issue. I'll have a look around the web tomorrow to see if this is a peticular issue with this controller, or if there is different versions or something. And I was planning to use it on a new robot I'm making which is gonna be like 2mm steel all round so it may be a problem. I'll have a proper look later as it is to late now. If it is an issue I could just use my planet on the new one, and use it in bruiser insted.
