Can anyone tell me where I can get speedy servos (but controlable), a 2.4GHz receiver (and transmitter) that is light enough and a light but long lasting battery. Please!

giantshark and spektrum tx and rx are pretty good for ants
Thinking about making a couple of Ants for a young cousin as a present.
Just how cheap could you make them? Dave's guide in the above list is great but I think it can be done cheaper.
They don't have to be competitive, or within the rules (weight and size) although that would be favourable in case he wants to use them in competitions.
My thinking is thin HDPE for chassis, servos for drive and weapon, just use the Rx as the controller. Cheap 2.4Ghz Tx and Rxs (although I have some 27mhz sets doing nothing)
Probably make a flipper and an axe.
Any help much appreciated.
If you want it as cheap as, you could do it for £40 without materials. For something a bit quicker, you'd have to speed-hack the servos I had in mind (Towerpro SG90) for the drive.
3 x servos
1 x Blade 4ch TX
1 x Orange micro rx (eBay or Giantshark)
1 x NiMH battery (120mAh or 210mAh) from Component shop
Should be under £40.
Won't I need to hack the servos to rotate 360 anyway?
What about a charger?
£15 for a 2.4ghz Tx and Rx:

Even cheaper than the one I was thinking, favoured by the Aussies.
You would have to 360 mod the servos anyway, but to get any real go about them, you'll need to speed hack them as well.
Thanks for the info.
I'm assuming info on how to speed hack is easy to find? I really know nothing about AWs..
Is it worth me looking at that other website? The AW one?
Yay, I get to use this website:Originally Posted by PJ-27

The AW Forum? Yes. It's a right laugh, particularly some of the names. Is it worth me looking at that other website? The AW one?
Plus there's a Featherweight section.
