sorry to double post (or triple)
but I want this to be legal for robots live at Deeside (I know the heavies get main attention but if I just get 1/2 fights that would be a great learning curve) I will be using a Giant Cod tx and rx which I am aware this wont failsafe (Its just a simple wedge with 2 drill motors- is that ok?)
botbitz 85a with drill motors and drill batterys in a 12v 2amp pack.
I can get some sort of LED powerlight on it.

Fine, the Botbitz speedo will do the failsafing.

Wheels have been ordered for a bit and Im still waiting on arival.

If that's Robochallenge and it's been more than three weeks, email them a reminder & mention Deeside. Good lads that have a habit of missing orders.
What else will I need to pass a tech check?

also will the Giant Cod/Shark tx and rx be legal on a spinner ant? (I guess not)
and will the TX work with a different RX that wil failsafe.

I don't believe that there is a failsafing RX for giant cod.

Spinner ants will need a failsafe on the spinner channel at least. Since the throttle traditionally stays as running, I'd recommend putting a failsafing speed controller on the throttle channel to power the spinner.

Everybody was less picky abou Napalm Death's drive going around in a small slow circle. There may be a bit of give there

The Giantcod stuff should failsafe on the throttle channel at least, so for an ant spinner should be fine. I'll check my own gear if it'll failsafe with anything else.

And a cradle to sit your robot on, not just 2 crappy bits of wood wedged underneath lol ,make one a bit better,, best to get yourself all in order now. It may be just a wedge but flying off the table with no cradle could cause a nasty injury to someone close by

@ady building a good cradle should be no problem I have improved at woodwork
are there any giant shark brushless speed controllers that will guarantee failsafing?
3weeks is kind of scary- you cant have a robot with no wheels!

The important thing foraq cradle is to have the wheels off the ground, at champs I used a 120mm by 250mm ram as a cradle.

but I'm still non the wiser on:
my situation is I am looking to order from giant cod. everything in one parcel and I know nylon grub screws aren't strong but if I have 8 of them in the motor at once and you get about 20 for 60p, will 5mm reach the plate in the motor?
surely someone has tried it, I could probably find out tomorrow but does anyone have the answer?
next, will this esc on the throttle channel of my giant cod?

also servo modding failed last time, could I buy spare gears and swap the gear with the limiter for a gear without?

For 60p try using nylon grubscrews but I doubt they will work unless you tap the holes in the motor. I think that esc will fail safe but I'm not 100 percent sure

i don't understand why you're considering using nylon grub screws, they almost definitely won't work (probably won't be able to tap the holes in the drill motor casing) and even if they do work they'd probably wear out after a little use. for a saving of less than a pound per pack of 20 screws what is the point of even trying? these grub screws will work fine:

ok I was just trying to get everything into 1 order.
if i buy from eBay will the 5x8s be too big or will the 5x5s be too small?
