Thread: Which regulator?

  1. #11
Nice ones archie, we had one competitor using a spinner last year and he went on to the finals - he inflicted quite some damage as well but in the end his weapon was his own demise - I'll stick to the flipper, anyway I've already started shopping so there's no way back now!

are these 5way 2pos valves any good?

they will be good for around 100psi-ish
if you want an actual full pressure launcher you will probarbly need a 5404 (i think) burket valve from rs components wait till someone wh knows what there talking about to answer

That valve will be good for 8 bar ish. You won't need a bucket 5404, that's a fp valve. Trevor regulator would be your best bet, you'll have to modify it slightly by putting a 1/2 bps nut on the inlet instead of the co2 nut that comes with it as standard. I dont think trevor currently has acess to a lathe to make the regs, there are alot knocking around though. Will (username: teamocean) has one for sale for £45.

what i he is building full pressure?
    wait im confused
i thaught trevor regs were just regulators not valves
i will leave pneumatics to the experts

Why would he need to change the nut on the Trevor regulator if he's using a paintball bottle?

  6. #16
Paintball bottles have an output almost 1/2 bsp, trev regs come wit a co2 nut. The co2 nut is larger than 1/2 bsp and connects to standard co2 bottles.

Archie, he has stated that he is building a lp system, also fp systems do not use regulators. Trevor's regs at just regs not valves, I'd suggest you do some reading up on the subject before giving out advice.

    Chris:
Hey, and welcome to the forum
I know you may have a max limit of 17kg but if you can build it to 13.6kg then you can come and compete with us sometime. a 13.6kg robot can still beat a 17kg robot

Do you have an actual arena to contain the robots ?
If I was going to take pneumatics advice, I'd take it from Mario (Maddox) or Mike Lambert. Don't take too much notice of Archie.

    Archie:
You've never built a pneumatic robot. Why are you giving advice on something you have no experience with ?

Also, don't post that video of Satanix ANYWHERE. Use one where I ACTUALLY get to fight.

    Paintball regulator;

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-PAINTBALL ... 2a1dff3251

you could probably find your self one on ebay in your own country though, save on postage...

that valve would work, for a basic low pressure setup, get a 3/2 sol/spring valve if you dont need powered retract,

5/2 sol/spring if you want powered return.

Also make sure you pick one up with either a 12 or 24v solenoid- dependant on what voltage you already have in your robot.

Need anymore info- its best to find someone who talks sense and send them a PM. Theres a lot of mongs on this forum now.

btw- Whats wrong with the video Weston?

And they've got an arena, you can see it in the video he provided a few posts back.
