Thread: Which regulator?

  1. #61
you could link 2 of the together,1 to activate the ram the other to release the gas

anyway if you keep checking ebay you do sometimes find some good brand 1s turn up

Agreed Ben, but I dont think the gas will flow back through the QEV. I dont know if I'm understanding this right, gas goes from the reg through the 3/2 valve then to the QEV and in turn into the buffer tank. When the 3/2 valve is energized, the line from the 3/2 valve to the QEV is exhausted, and the air in the buffer flows through the QEV to the actuator for the extension stroke.
Now the 3/2 valve is released, and again the cycle repeats itself - but I dont think the bungee will push the air in the actuator through the QEV against the 8 bar press coming from the 3/2 valve.
For sure there must be some additional plumbing or some non return valve involved!

If your using a QEV setup then you have to use a 5/2 valve. I would also suggest getting a valve thats rated to the pressure your working at as its going to be more reliable, also it technicaly won't pass a tech check either.

cant find any 5/2 valves rated at over 10 bar, almost everything is rated at 8bar or less, then there are hydraulic valves but those are too heavy and expensive ( and probably wont work with gas)

Seen this, but its not exactly cheap:

Any recommendations on what to use?

    Found this:

Is it any good for the purpose of an LP flipper? I would need at least 2 of these and maybe a third one tho!

Thanks Ben for the link, I'll keep that info for the future - they're priced on the high side and shipping costs don't help much either.

    I've got myself this one:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251073532207? ... 824wt_1399

Had a look at the makers website and according to their specs its good for 8bar working press and 15bar proof press.

    http://en.airtac.com/upload/201108170918425966.PDF

My intention is to pressurize the buffer tank to 12bar, and when the actuator is extended the press should drop to about 9.5bar - actuator is rated at 10bar.

If all fails will have to cough up some extra ££ for a proper valve, but considering the ebay valve only cost 25Euro its a bargain

So I've started sourcing and ordering the components for my pneumatic system, so far I got these:
pneumatic actuator (which needs to be reworked)
5/2 way valve (on the way)
2 on/off valves (on the way)
3 paintball bottles 12oz (on the way)
    Co2 regulator (on the way)

Remaining are the QEV, PRV, and various push fittings adaptors and pipe.
I plan to use 1/2'' fittings through out the system, the question is will a 1/2'' BSP female elbow fit the thread of a paintball regulator or on/off valve?

@ maddox: ''If you can find the shorter one, give me a sign, I'm searching for that type for a while now.''

I've finally received the paintball bottles, for those interested in its dimensions it measures 64mm diameter (outside) and 240mm length without valve. The needle type valve protrudes 27mm from the bottle, while the on/off valve protrudes 40mm
