Thread: Which regulator?

  1. #1
Hi I'm new here - been following this forum for a while reading topics and I have to say there's a mine of information and good advice here, so thanks to all who share their knowledge.

Now to my question. I'm building a pneumatic system for a flipper and after doing my research I opted for a low press system (10+bar) with a buffer tank and a QEV between buffer and actuator. I'm using a 9 oz paintball tank as a reservoir, a 12 oz paintball tank for a buffer and a 63mm bore actuator. Stroke I will modify the to suit my design at a later stage. I'm having difficulty in choosing the right regulator for the job, I dont want a heavy one ( max robot weight is 17kg). Are paint ball regs such as these any good for my purpose?

It looks to me that non of the 3 are ideal.

Recently somebody posted a more suitable version. Pity I can't find it easely.

Also, 17 kg... feathers have a max weight of 13.6kg, including consumables.

Almost everyone on here uses Trevor Regulators for low pressure systems. They're ideal and very compact, and have been battle tested thoroughly for many many years.

I would either put an advert in that Wanted section for one or send him a PM, his username is mightymouse.

Actually in this competition there are no classes - rules specify max weight of 17kg and max dimensions of 500mm x 500mm base, and its based outside the UK

So you reckon those are of no good use for me...can someone recommend a suitable one which wont cost a fortune - trying to keep costs as low as possible and prefer something which bolts straight on without too much fiddling!

If you could guide me to Recently somebody posted a more suitable version you'd do me a favour.

    Where is this competion?

In Malta - no big deal, nothing in comparison with what you do, but we'd like to do something a notch better than what we're used to see here. Pneumatic systems although allowed have never been used as they've been viewed as being too complicated and heavy. We're trying to prove this wrong.
