I think the botbitz controllers would be fine on 1 speed 900 but possibly not 2 speed 600s
    .
you are referring to the size of the motor not the power.
    overvolted with supergrippy wheels.
    4-6 b&q drills
    sounds good enough.
it was a long time ago you posted that Max btw

It's quite ridiculous how you're playing top trumps with power figures, stop pretending you've come up with a great new idea that's never been done before (usually for good reason) and build something!

I've got till October to build something.
will do something in 3 ish weeks

Again, the notion here is that drills are underwhelming, or that they won't be good enough. Which isn't true. They are certainly good enough.

Here's a battle Tormenta had with Tiny Toon (which I believe runs Gold motors?) at the champs:

We were beaten because Toon had a lower front, and because we were against one of the best drivers in the game. :P

But as you can see, it's just as impressive visually as the very powerful setup in Tiny Toon. Once or twice we got a push in and we didn't struggle at all. Not a great example because we were being bashed about constantly but that's just 4 12 quid drills there, mate.

    ---------------------------

These battles are less good because we had dreadful batteries that seriously held back the machine. With the right batteries (what we had for the champs) it was a beast. Even so, it's still pretty good:

If you don't believe that a drill has a decent motor/gearbox combo then take a standard 2 by 4. Take a 4 inch screw and try screwing it into the wood by hand. Feel how bloody difficult it is to do it. Take a fully charged cordless drill (bearing in mind the standard batteries are crap) and do the same thing. See how easily it goes in. Point made.

    point taken.
by b&q drills i mean 12v cordless not hammer drills.
can i over volt drills yo more than 18v with heatsink?
4 drills on 18/18+ volts with 6wd system will be good right?
what speed controllers shall i use and reuse in my robot.
I'm thinking sabretooth 60a ish kind of amps?
    or a botbits

You can overvolt 12v motors to 18v, there are a few roboteers that do that (Such as Ellis, which he has said in previous posts.). You shouldn't need a heatsink for that purpose. Motors can run at 50% more that their rated voltage (12v + 6v = 18v)

As for a speed controller, If cost matters (which I am sure it does), then I would buy some botbitz 25A controllers, same rating as the Scorpion XXL, but 2 of them I think is still cheaper than buying the 1 Scorpion unit from the states (they are single channel controllers like your Banebots).

If you plan to run 4 motors, I'd get the ESCheap85 ones, rated for 85A, and my victors are rated for 60 and they'll take my Speed 900's all day . I would have bought them had I known about them 2 years ago :P

shame. i wouldn't had bought the bane bots if i knew about the German speed controllers.
will i need more than 85amp?
I'm thinking of either dewalt hammer drills (which i found out that the motors of the b&q 14.4v one would be fine and i.would just need a new gearbox)

    rs775s (yay)
    maybe graupner motors.
    doubt they will pull over 85amp but i could always get a 190-200amp hobbyking http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... 5FESC.html
    i would need 4 i think
and i would have to hack them brushed to brushless
    thanks dave again
