FW bar materials

I'm looking at making a bar for a BW (so not too large)

Was thinking about making the whole bar from a block of D2 / S7 /Toolox or similar hard steel. Would people advise making the bar from something else and just the teeth (bolt on?) from a tool steel?

D2 is a bit Ott for a , hardox should suffice
