I thought I'd go for something different to the rest but I give up, I'll just use the same parts for a flipper like this:

It won't be the most powerful as I didn't make the ram that big as before I wanted lots of hits but it should be powerful enough to flip over other bots

I'm guessing it would be forward hinged being mounted like that?

Would be great if you can find a way to make an axe, or something, with your system. Surely there are others uses for pneumatic systems?

Or if you are to build a flipper, how about something a bit different in approach... four bar? We've seen enough wedge shaped flippers!

That's an interesting idea, hadn't considered that! I was planning rear hinge though- should give lots of power to start with then a fast velocity once it gets moving.

    Here the new design,

it will be a five bar! Basically its a four bar but with an extra bar on the end of the ram so it can stay in a fixed position without having to pivot.

I've done more testing on the electronizes, it seems when the motor stops one of the relays clicks. It is not just failsafing but either actively breaking or even trying to reverse the motor. It still happens with a different motor (14.4v) and with different radio gear. It happens when I run it on one 3s lipo as well as on 2 (giving 6s) but appears to be less severe and only happen on one motor whilst on 3s

Do people think this is acceptable as a restraint bar for my feather? It hold the flipper arm off the ram so even if the ram fires nothing really happens.

A pin or other "holding device " to avoid that plank slipping away on top and bottom would be a great add-on.

Mario- ok ill try to make it more stable
David- I made the gearboxes myself- gears from technobots then bought a couple of plates of aluminium and drilled some holes using a mill with digital read-out

Also, here is a video of the flipper in action and self righting. Unfortunately at the end one of the elbows snapped which meant all the gas went out! Then a deans connector worked loose so it stopped entirely but that's not in the video.
