So to have the best chance you would need to win all 3 fights utterly, 6 KO's (2 in each fight)

That would be the best case scenario, yeah. In all the previous years, there have usually been two or three robots going into the knockout stages with 12 points.
But if you don't get three full knockouts, it's not the end of the world.

At the 2010 championships, there were five robots tied on 8 points and only three spaces left in the top-ten. When this happens, the five robots go into a mele and the last three bots standing take the last three top-ten places. So if you have one KO fight, one judges' win and a loss, there's still a possibility of progression.

EDIT: Jonno, yeah Carcinus is mine. It's the crab-like robot with the claws, dunno if you've seen it about before. It's only got one opponent in two of its fights because the sign-ups filled up extremely quickly and there were more robots than planned that signed up before James and Grant could close it. So one fight in each Friday qualifier was always only going to have two robots in it. Luck of the draw I guess that Carcinus got pulled out the hat for two of those battles.

How was Beauty 2 stuck on the wall? Could you not fire the flipper or as it was held open by the wall so you could you not fire it?

You don't happen to have any pictures of the damage?

the link was out when we flippedbut the unwriten rule of leave a bot alone after 30 seconds was extended to 60 seconds

no pics just ripped 2 holes in the moters and broke all the ti moter mounts.
about £100 worth of damage

It was meant to have three wheel omni-style drive but it hasn't worked out as planned so I'll be adjusting a few bits so that it's just conventional two-wheel drive. The claws are also just fixed in place, no mechanism to operate them. Might try and fabricate one during my time off but it could be a bit of a rushed effort.
