First picture looks like a mini-Warhead, minus the tail
Second picture puts the size of the robot into perspective, it looks tiny!

But all in all it's still the most interesting looking feather I've ever seen and can't wait to see how it progresses.

Love the tilted disc concept, as Gary said very evocative of Warhead. Are you planning on running the claws with steel cable so that as the bottom section moves the second outer section simultaneously unfurls? That's the first idea that comes to my mind

I know us Scots are few and far between in terms of robot combat, but is it that easy to get us mixed up? I drive a Kia Rio over a Peugeot RCZ for a start

Dang.. sorry about that Jamie, was on autopilot which seems to suggest my subconscious is 'Scottist'? I blame your robot's colours =p

Thanks for the comments Jamie and Ewan, and Gary if he shows . Ewan you are spot on with the claws however I will do some testing and i have a single claw idea which may supersede the twin claw thing. I'm waiting for you Ewan to get the other actuators in then I will be making a large purchase of wire, actuators and some other bits and bobs. All the HDPE arrived today so its off to the workshop and out with the router (on a slow speed) The dish-disc will be made in Canada, once I've completed the drawings.

large Gimson order placed, actuators, wire, deans etc
    HDPE marked out
and got a sponsor who is purchasing me two sets of radio control gear - which is nice.
I will be working on the hdpe over the next couple of days, will post pics as they occur.
