When it comes to putting out a Lipo Fire what should you use? I cant find any information on what class of fire a lipo explosion is. From my basic understanding a dry powder or Halon alternative fire extinguisher should be sufficient? Could someone clarify this?

So.... My new bot is invertable and the lipo is protect top and bottom by 5mm polycarbonate and 5mm Ali plates which are bonded to the polycarbonate. Would this be deemed acceptable?
The 7.1 rule sounds a bit vague, or should I say open to interpretation. I reckon there should be some sort of quantity instead of adequately as, if a newcomer had never used LiPo's or indeed robots before that would be very open to interpretation as to what is adequate.
Case in point: If Dan still isn't sure after all this clarification, how could a newcomer be?
(no offense intended to you Dan, as i'm sure a lot of folk are still unclear, its just that you mentioned it)

Mine is an interpretation of the rule but my worry is that safety rules shouldn't really have more than 1? My worry being that my bot would fit the rules but the implementation is different to the spirit of the rule. My old bot had 5mm Ali armour to protect the battery but the new one has polycarbonate armour which has Ali plates to both hold the battery in place and to comply but these (in theory) are part of the plastic armour?
I think they just use co2 to keep the batteries cool enough until they can remove them and put them in a salt bath for discharging (I had to put Baby Hell's lipo in a saline solution after it puffed up because it got plugged in the wrong way by someone).

a bucket of sand or salt water are good for LiPo fires. But I ain't picking up a burning battery and carrying to a bucket, so its usually kept under the charging desk so it can be dropped.
My preferance is to contain the fire, run from the smoke and let it burn. It tends to be over pretty quick.

Sorry, what did I get wrong? When I built the flame thrower for Sidewinder I pointed it for 30 seconds at a spare piece of polycarb left over from when I built the QRSC arena, and it left no damage. I was curious about how safe it would be to put in the arena we built. But that's off topic. Sorry, ignore me. I've already proven I'm not allowed in european competitions.Daniel, thank you for the post - Some of that is correct and some not so (flame throwers burning polycarb).
