Having some trouble removing a set of blue wheels from their drill motor threads. Have tried gripping the shaft and turning the wheel but its still stuck solid. Is the best way to remove them just powering it up and gripping the wheels while the motors are moving? Still waiting on a new set of batteries but if thats the best way ill give it a go when they arrive.

A carefully placed screwdriver or two in one or two of the vents in the motor casing works for me. It's possible you could do damage but the pressure being exerted on whatever you're jamming (fan fins for example) is quite small, since you're going backwards through the gearbox. Unless you're literally hanging off the wheel then you should be fine. Or at least, that's my experience, obviously be cautious. Powering the motors and gripping the wheels is a plausible idea but how will you stop the thing from turning? It would take one heck of a grip to stop the motor from doing what it wants, even on drill scale.
If the wheels have been Loctite'd on, try heating them up (hair dryer or heat gun) around the nut area. This causes the glue to spearate, which might help loosen it. Failing that, if it won't budge at all, you may just have to cut the shaft off between the wheel and the gearbox housing, knock that shaft out (some ball bearings and a circlip to navigate) and replace it with a new one. Had to resort to that once; definitely not ideal or preferred, but sometimes the buggers just never want to come off!
If you do resort to turning the motor with a battery make sure you don't use a ESC but plug the bat straight into the motor.
i found the best way to unstick stuck blue wheels, is by taking the gear box apart, and jamming the pins on the outer shaft with a lump of metal and either holding that lump of metal with a spanner to give you more leverage, or haveing the lump of metal shaped to give you the leverage, that method hasnt failed me yet...

I cant take the gearboxes off as I cant get the units out of their mounts without taking the wheels off. I tried jamming an allen key into the fan section of the motor but it didn't give enough force until it started sounding like something was breaking. Stopping them turning would be brute force really.
That's a good shout PJ, might not have thought of that. With my other bots i've just unscrewed the reverse thread and if I can't get the wheels off it just unscrews when I drive it around a bit.
Will give some of those suggestions a try and see if any of em work, with any luck I wont have to go cutting anything.
I had the same problem
Get the wheel and put it in a vice with the motor pointing down.
Get a punch and hit it with a hammer where the screw is and hopefully the wheel will stay in the vice and the motor will fall to the floor with the nut on it.
Now you can get the motor shaft and put some mole grips on it and use a spanner to unscrew the nut.
Then once the nut is oft the shaft epoxy it back in the wheel
I cant get the motor out of the robot. I'll upload some photos in a bit, but i'm gonna have to drill through a screw or two that is no use anymore then maybe i'll be able to get the motors out. Thats the plan for the moment anyway...
