What receiver have you been using? Some Spektrum receivers only failsafe the throttle channel and keep giving out signals on all other channels.

If your Electronize controllers have built-in failsafes (which they
should) then no, you won't need to connect any form of external failsafe between your receiver and controllers. Just have them plug directly into the receiver and when you turn your transmitter off, the motors should stop.
I don't know if the orange receivers are specifically replicas of the AR500, but they are a cheap form of DSM2 receiver. I've been using one for a while now in conjunction with my DSM2 E-Flite controller and had no problems with it.
