Re: help with Gianitcod 2.4ghz 4-Channel Mode2 Transmitter n

Not a problem mate, You have to bind the transmitter and receiver to allow it to receive signals from the correct controller. There should be something in the instructions about it, but i'll have a look on that website you posted and see if I can tell you how.
When I had a wee look earlier I think I saw something about a rectangular hole on one of the small sides of the receiver?

Re: help with Gianitcod 2.4ghz 4-Channel Mode2 Transmitter n

Found this on that website, hope it helps.
The bind procedure is the easiest, quickest, no fuss seen to date, this is done by powering up the transmitter and receiver, then a tiny button positioned at the end of the receiver case is pressed once. A green LED flashes for a second or so then stops, that€™s it, job done!

There does seem to be a few people unhappy with the T4EU on that link you posted.

with the binding you have to hold down the button. the new style transmitters and recivers are usless, i would advise getting someting better if your buget can streach to it.

Re: help with Gianitcod 2.4ghz 4-Channel Mode2 Transmitter n

the radiolink t4eu and the r6eh are the correct receiver/transmitter . not sure why they call it a giantcod transmitter/receiver set on the website though. for every radio system i've used it's been channel 1 and 2 for drive and channel 3 throttle. i'd say its probably a dodgy receiver or transmitter. as long as you don't remove the case off either of them giantcod will give you a refund although it usually takes 1-2 weeks to get your money back.
this may sound crazy, but have you tried violently shaking your transmitter up and down for about a minute? i do this to mine when it doesn't work and then it usually starts working :)

i got the r7eh reciever if that means anything
and i only have 2 thing (forgot what they are called) too go into the reciever, one from each speed controller

Re: help with Gianitcod 2.4ghz 4-Channel Mode2 Transmitter n

as far as i know the r7eh is the same as the r6eh in terms of compatibility but it has an extra channel and has the connections on the side. you should plug the connectors that come from your esc's into channel 1 and 2 on your receiver. it doesn't matter which ones in channel 1 and which ones in channel 2 as the servo reversing function can be used to correct this. the throttle channel is for the weapon (if you have one).

Do you have a servo and a receiver battery to hook up to the receiver outside the robot? That way you can at least determine if the receiver is responding to the transmitter and takes out as many variables as possible.

		No crystals needed.
Your pics are a little blurred and I cannot see a receiver power supply / 4.8v battery pack or BEC.
The Electronize FR15HVR and FR15TVR have a battery eliminator circuit (B.E.C.) providing a regulated 5 volt supply for the receiver and servo's... I don't think that the FR30HX has.
This possible lack of a 4.8v power supply to your receiver and thus your ESC's ( the internal electronics of the Electronize requires 4.8v / 5v to function and the internal electronics turns the higher voltage battery supply to the motor on and off ) and would explain your prob.

BEC ...one of many makes... http://www.dimensionengineering.com/Par ... 4Qod_CNBIQ

I've got an awful feeling that you might want to use one bat per controller.
My advice is DON'T ...simply wire up your bats in parallel[attachment=1:24ki7vmk]FR15HX2.JPG[/attachment:24ki7vmk]
Series config ...double the voltage.

		Hi Matt, got your PM.
From what I've read, I reckon you've got a dodgy receiver. Several Radio Link units from Giant Cod have had the problem of the light being on on the receiver but nothing happening. My first receiver was fine until after the Edinburgh Robots Live event last year. When pressing the bind button on the receiver, the green light should flash for a few seconds until it picks up the transmitter and the it stays permanently on. But mine (and other people's) would flash for a good 30-40 seconds before staying permanently on, yet there would be no response when I moved the transmitter sticks.
If I remember rightly, the issue was a software fault in one of the receiver circuit boards (the receiver has a big main board that contains the pins that you connect your speed controllers too, and then a smaller board that mounts on top that the aerial is connected to). I can't remember which one, but people returning them to Giant Cod were being issued with replacements containing updated software and they seemed to work.
I bought a replacement just before this issue was discovered and it worked fine until it got flung out the robot at the UK champs. The only damage appeared to be that a PIC chip had broken free on one side but after resoldering it, it didn't work despite the green light coming on (though I can't blame it after taking such an impact). Since then I've yet to buy another receiver and see how that copes after an extended time, but in your case it may be worth seeing if Rob at Giant Cod will issue a replacement.
EDIT: A thread from the antweight forum documenting the problem: http://www.robotwars101.org/phpBB/viewt ... sc&start=0

Try a new/different receiver first. In most instances the problem seems to have been linked to those rather than the transmitter.

Have those speed controllers got a BEC? I can't see it in the pic? There should be a yellow and orange wire coming from the same side the Power and Motor lead exit. Have you tried using batteries to power the Rx? Process of elimination and all that....

Re: help with Gianitcod 2.4ghz 4-Channel Mode2 Transmitter n

My Radio Link Rx just died, seems this is a very common problem.
When binding, how does the Rx know which Tx it is looking for? The Radio Link Tx has no binding button.
