Help i need help to repair my IBC . WHO can i send it to i need it fixed asap .The big Capacitor near the motor wires at the left side where the wire is soldered down to the board it glowed red and then melted and then the Linear LT117 . 1HVCQ blew and is in half . I really cant fix this my self and a bit ticked off as it was the first time wiring it up :sad: .Please help me !

Not exactly being constructive here but connecting it to a 100,000V electricity cable hanging from a pylon is not recommended for testing purposes. Let this be a warning to everyone :)

You burnt the capacitor and blew the voltage regulator. Seriously, how many amps were you pushing through either?
Um well i was testinng it with 2 drills at 18v battery with 1200mAh nnot much eh ? The wire on the capacitor looks a little flimsy and thing and i guess it was a chain reaction , any idea how much it will cost to fix it ?

Cann some check their IBC for what code is on the voltage regulator , i have LT1170CQ and the robowars diagram has LT1170CT ?
I have LT805CV - That shouldnt matter though probably. Thats some strange failure though... Ive not had anything like it happen to mine in four failures - My guess is something mustve been connected wrongly and if this is your first test run it could even have been a fault on the PCB but I imagine they test the things before sending them out from Australia - but its still worth very carefully checking the PCB for any faults which couldve been there before you first ran the IBC.
If the motors were simply drawing bucketloads of current the first things to go shouldve been the mosfets (a hint to this lots of toxic smoke :)) or the main power track on the PCB which leads to the mosfets on the underside of the board from the positive (+) battery wire. I cant imagine this was the case though running two drills at 18v (what voltage drills were they?) and I cant imagine a battery that small (1200mah) wouldve provided enough current for a current failure in only a very short time.
Its cost me about £20 each time Ive had to repair my IBC for current failure (the cost just being the price of new components from Farnell or RS components) but youll need completely different components which Id guess would come to around about the same figure (maybe a little more). Its certainly worth sending off to the US to be repaired if you dont have the skills yourself but It costs $135 for a 7 day repair or slightly less for 14 days and then youve got to sort out all the P&P stuff to and from the states whichd add up abit. If youve got the money, sure do just that.

Ewan this is the same IBC that Ed lent you at XFM Ipswich. So sadly clearly shows the IBC was in a working state before. Though i dunno, god knows what you do to them to have them fail 4 times. You have people like Ploughbot running Astroflights on them, i used to run 4 x 12v drill motors on 24v to the point my batteries were burning the heatshrink away they were pulling so much current, i or ploughbot never blown one up.

A problem is that there is no legs to the voltage regulator for the underside of the PCB , hot do i get the voltage regulator off and solder a new one on ? Also Stu any news on a warranty ? I took it to the electrical workshop at work and they said it could of been a fault with the circuit when it was made .

IF could of been a fault with the circuit when it was made, but thats hard to beleive since it has already been used in a robot and worked fine.

I got a problem with my IBC speedo....seems the controller chip is dead.....gettin the chip is no problem (R.S)....but programming it is....I quote from aussie forum Of course if youre just looking to get the IBC up and running again and dont want to tinker around with programming the micro yourself, then if you have any local OSMC-aware techies around, tell them its the standard OSMC uMOB chip and they might have a programmed one on hand. ......HELP !!!!!

tony kind sir nice to see you on here, OSMC uMOB is a controller that robot power sell if you sepak to them they will proberbly be willing to send you a chip or speak to James Baker he has dealings with them
