James, I believe he came along to a Robot Wars show with Attila last year, might be worth asking Jonno
Ah yes Attila is his entry. I just have an incorrect email address here.
Have you asked Jonno? - logically coming from Italy he would have contacted him beforehand for information about the event, or signed up and received roboteers emails from him.
Where did Attila fought last year? And is there a build diary somewhere?

I am also very pleased to announce the draw for the qualifying rounds will be revealed live on the Robo Challenge Facebook page this Friday from 12pm, make sure you are there and we wish the teams the very best of luck!
Didn't know Rory was going bare fists in the whiteboards. This could be interesting. :P
I'm in with Tormenta 3 not Rango 2 this time. Last minute changes. Neither exist yet anyway! :)
As most of you will have seen by now, we have built a new Explosion for this year. Just to confirm, we will be entering the new version (unless something catastrophic happens before then in which case the old Explosion will compete instead).
Just to make it clear which is being entered before the draw takes place :)
Very interesting lineup, should be a great competition!
Also, I'm entering with Hardwired 2: Overdrive (the one with the drum) still, not the pushy brick Hardwired II - when I signed up I hadn't given it the subtitle! Just thought I'd mention that pre-draw as a couple of others have already in case there was any confusion or anything.
wasn't night fury 2 no.7 on the reserve list or are you not listing that far
Where is Mini Moth ?
Found it lol
Yeah, my robot's called Richie :L
If we're on the reserves list, is it ok to just come up for the last 2 days and pitch in to whiteboard fights, and do we still have to pay the event entrance fee? I'm not sure I can justify paying for 3 nights in a hotel if I'm not actually competing...
This is a stupid question but does anyone know what little nipper looks like? Sounds quite good...
No pressure as Scotland's only representative then! Didn't realise there were entries from Brazil and Canada too, thought the other side of the Atlantic wasn't going to be represented so nice to see those there.
Also, Catharsis from the Netherlands in the main event and Catharsis from England on the reserve list. Not confusing in the slightest :P
Spartan is Marco Roberts (Who also has Trojan), He's from Brazil originally and has chosen to represent them :).
Only Canadian roboteer I know of over here is John Frizel...
Just goes to show that I didn't even look at the name of the robot listed next to Brazil, as I would've recognised it from his build thread/Facebook post :p
And thinking about it from that angle, I might've been able to get away with putting Seychelles as my country. Wasn't born there, but my grandad is from there, and if that criteria is acceptable for the national football teams...
Completely forgot too that the Canadian entry could've been John. Haven't heard anything about Serious Damage either way.
Gallifrey? Hardwire representing Ireland then?
That's also an old one. XD
I am surprised there are no US machines. Despite the logistics, surely they would want to try and prove they were the best. If the aussies can make it, they can.
Why go out for hamburgers when you have steak at home?
I don't follow the US side of things religiously so this may not be the case, but I don't think the FW class is as big over there any more. Loads of insect classes & up to 15lbs, then lightweights and heavies. Hyperactive and Uberclocker are the two main ones that come to mind, but watching a lot of other feathers at Motorama the other week, I didn't see a huge amount to be impressed about, suggesting that the class is not at the cutting edge the way it is over here. Plus it might just come down to personal circumstances. Yes we've got Nick and Glen coming from Australia this year, but just because they're coming doesn't automatically mean that some US builders should have made the effort. Each to their own suitability.
You are absolutely right Jamie! Just have a look at the videos from Motorama this year and you can see how far the quality of featherweights in the US has fallen. With one or two exceptions they would be totally owned by everyone at the UK champs. I put it down to the GFC and Robogames dropping the class a couple of years ago - its really sad.
We have had interest from the US however peoples circumstances are different and I hope to see some in the coming years. I think the UK championships so far really has been the bench mark for a little while now. As you say I think after looking, the UK robots for what ever reason have been well invested into and are at an amazing standard. That said I was very impressed with Nicks machine from Australia last year and full expect every ones level to raise this year. Its incredible to think how many robots are being built specifically for this event. We really appreciate everyones efforts, dedication and support. More importantly though, if you think last years standard was impressive, its going to be on another level this year!
Haha I thought I put England / Brazil but I guess I was mistaken. Lets hope they are Better represented than at the world cup
Hey people.
I'm going to be in need of bumming a few lifts off of people too and from the NEC. So on that note where are most people staying and who wouldn't mind helping me out. I int got anywhere booked yet so I'll be flexible as to where most of you folks are staying. Can give petrol money no problems. However I won't go easy on you in the arena :)
I'm driving so can get you
Cheers guys for offers and cheers Gareth for the suggestion. That might work out well.
Also Gabriel, I keep forgetting you're within spitting distance. Should have a pre champs shakedown :)
Where are you again?
I'm in Reigate. So its not next door but its pretty close.
Booked at Premier Inn. Thanks Gareth I owe you a drink.
