I don't see why a battery replacement should be allowed, a component failed. Tough luck. Next time chose a more reliable form of power if you don't want to run that risk. Or ensure your drive and weapon do not have the potential to harm the battery. Damage inflicted onto your own robot is a legitimate cause of loss.
EDIT: What if the battery connector or link was working loose and one more hit would have disconnected it? Redoing the battery would have fixed that potential stealing away a win from the opponent. Why stop at batterys? If your Dual ESC goes up in smoke, let's repair that! This isn't motor racing, damage isn't collateral, it's primary. No mid battle repairs.
