Thread: RoboChallenge social test day

  1. #1
    Hi everyone!

We will be holding a social test day on either the 12th/13th August for featherweights to get together and test their machines.

We will have our main arena setup with full polycarbonate screening incase of any spinners attending.

This will not be held as a competition but purely for everyone to get together, have a bit of fun and test their robots for any faults before the UK Championships.

We will be holding this at our workshop in Aston, Birmingham. If your want to attend then please reply on here or e-mail me at coop_bmx@msn.com
Please state which day you would like to be there on as we will arrange it all around you.

    Good luck and happy building!

decided to be nice for a change.
for those who have never met AWOL, there is a pic in the botom left corner of this page

It is run by a guy called Tom, who dispite not really liking me, is a good guy, and its a shame we never see him at events.
AWOL was originally a joint project by JC and I to build a robot for TOM, but it ended up scrapped (not sure how or why, but doesnt really matter as it wasnt what Tom wanted anyway) and JC built the AWOL as it appears in the picture.
Its got a 12v fan motor, which I believe is run at 24v, spinning a tool steel bar welded to the shaft.
Armour is steel, cant remeber thickness, and I think drive was via drill motors.

Just thought id give you guys attending a heads up, the bar gets up a lot of speed!

Hopefully, this post will not only please Jc and Co, but also temp Tom out into FRA robot land, we need new roboteers, and I think Tom would really enjoy himself.

The bar was supposed to run at 24V, but at the moment only runs on 12v.
Yes it is Toms paint Job and gaffa tape lol .
Also, Tom has only used it a couple of times at demonstrations and so his driving skills are not much to panic about

It doesnt look like Ill get the new claw actuator for Vertigo into 12kg so I guess Ill add a couple of battery packs for the lifter and leave it at that till we go up to 13.6kg
