Thread: Can a bot run on different sized wheels

Yes, it's possible, but one set of motors won't like it.

Doubt you can do that, you'll have the 75mm wheels dragging. The only way I can think of is adjusting the motor speed on one set of wheels, but how to do it in practice I wouldn't know!

The two main ways you'd have to do it are either to run one set of wheels (either back or front) off the drill motors and connect the other set of wheels via pulleys or chains, geared in such a way that the small wheels turn faster than the bigger wheels, thus covering the same amount of ground each in one rotation, or if going for four motors, run the rear motors on a higher voltage so that they spin faster than the front ones. This method is a bit trickier as batteries tend to come in set voltages so it can be difficult to get an exact voltage match.

There was a US featherweight that used one set of motors and chain drive, like Jamie suggested. Since your large to small wheel ration is 1.33:1. you just need sprockets with the opposite ratio to make the wheels turn in sync. Some possible sprocket combinations are 12 /16, 15/20, 18/24, 21/28 and 24/32
