Thread: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4

  1. #1
I promised. So here it is.

I need 12 people to enter 2 heavyweight vapourbots.

    Entry rules
    - No flying or hovercraft robots :P
    - Clusterbots are allowed, but they must be at most 4 bots weighing up to 100kg together. (weight limits apply for clusterbots too, but only if ALL the bots in the cluster have the same type of motivation)
    - You can only have a maximum of 3 active weapons going at the same time
    - Interchangeable robots are also allowed, but you may only use 5 attachments for the entire tournament if you have more than 5 attachments
    - Maximum PSI allowed for nitrogen pneumatics is 2400PSI. (CO2 is automatically 900PSI since that is the max it can go to) Maximum PSI for hydraulic systems is 5000PSI

    Weight limits for the robots:

    - 100kg for wheeled machines
    - 110kg for bots with treads (El Diablo Grande) and tracks (101)
    - 150kg for shufflers (Son of Whyachi)
    - 200kg for true walkers (Clawed Hopper)

The format of the tournament will be 3 heats of 8 robots. 2 robots go through from each heat, and when all heats are completed the remaining robots duke it out in an annihilator style format (1v1v1v1v1v1), with one robot getting knocked out a fight until we have a true champion.

    I have reserved spots for:

    Joey McConnell
    Tracy Farber
    Andrew Jackson

Need 9 more people. Tournament won't begin until after I get back though. :P Get those entries in, everybody!

    Interesting format I like it

    Team Mechanical Menagerie

    1:

    VERTIGO

BODY SHAPE: Box with 60* wedge at front and angled rear ala Tornado. The sides are sloped at 45*

    WEIGHT: 100kg

    DIMENSIONS (L X W X H): 80cm x 75cm x 20cm

    COLOUR: See CAD

LOCOMOTION: 4 x internal wheels, made of aluminium with unrethane tyres. Each is exposed from the top and bottom and is 22cm in diameter

GROUND CLEARANCE: 0 at the wedge, 8mm at sides and 10mm at rear

    DRIVE MOTORS: 2 x LEMCO-130 lynch motors running @ 48v

DRIVE BATTERIES: 3 x NiCad battlepacks at 48v in parallel

    SPEED: 18mph

    TURNING CIRCLE: 0 metres

BODY ARMOUR: 4mm hardox monocoque, flipper/top panel is
    6mm.

CHASSIS: 4mm hardox monocoque. The removable panel is the top one.

WEAPON 1: The whole top panel is a full pressure flipper, powered by a 100mm ram @ 725psi from a 3kg co2 bottle, providing plenty of flips and a lot of power, similar power in fact to the modern Kronic the Wedgehog.

SRIMECH: The robot is invertible, but the flipper can be used to right it if needs be.

    STRENGTHS: Powerful weaponry, tough armour

THEME SONG: Bodies by Drowning Pool

    2:

    EQUINOX

BODY SHAPE: Box with 30* wedge at the front and angled rear ala Tornado like >. Sides are 45* to deflect spinners.

    WEIGHT: 100kg

    DIMENSIONS (L X W X H): 95cm x 70cm x 9cm

COLOUR: Dark blue with yellow skirts and forks

LOCOMOTION: 4 x internal wheels, each is 80mm in diameter and has vulkalon tyres for grip. They are mounted on a slant ala Tazbot for extra control. Instead of one in each corner they are mounted at the rear and middle of the machine, with two ball castors in the two front corners. This gives very good manouevrability, allowing Equinox to really glide around the arena like Panic Attack.

GROUND CLEARANCE: 0 at the wedge, effectively 0 at sides and rear due to skirts, but 10mm behind them.

SKIRTS: 5mm grade 2 titanium skirts at the sides and rear, joined by 4mm hardox hinges to stop them breaking.

    DRIVE MOTORS: 4 x S28-400 magmotors run @ 24v

DRIVE BATTERIES: 4 x NiCad battlepacks at 24v in parallel

SPEED: 15mph, designed to be very fluidly controlled

    TURNING CIRCLE: 0 metres

BODY ARMOUR: 6mm grade 5 titanium/vanadium 10% alloy monocoque. The removable panel is the top panel, but this is mounted on rubber bolts, rendering axes and hammers useless.

WEAPON 1: Running down the front wedge and flat along the floor are two 60cm long lifting forks, each powered by its own linear actuator, capable of rising to full height in 2 seconds, fast enough to be effective, but slow enough for controlled lifting.

WEAPON 2: Running along the top of the robot are two sets of Mute-style tungsten carbide barbs to trap opponents. Also hinged at the rear of the robot is a 95cm long clamping arm with a serrated tungsten tooth at the end of it, this is powered by an S28-400 magmotor @ 24v and is usually raised to vertical and then used to clamp opponents in place, can be used in unison with the lifting forks and barbs to good effect.

SRIMECH: The clamping arm can right the robot in 1 second, because it has a large hardox fin towards the rear half that allows it to self-right over the rear skirt.

STRENGTHS: Excellent manouevrability, controllability and pushing power, weapon synergy, tough armour

THEME SONG: Meet Me on the Equinox by Death Cab for Cutie

Looks to be a good tournament

Can flip up to 300kg and can lift up to 400kg, much like Achilles itself, it is a full body flipper, which means that the front wedge and the top, fire towards the back of the robot, the sides do not flip up though
    Scrimech: The flipper of course
    Strength: Powerful weapon
    Weakness: Dunno
BIO: Another new design for 2011
    Win/loss ratio: N/A
rated I for: This bot is in the hands of an Idiot

    Weapon: 7 different interchangeable setups.

1: A 20kg hardox scoop, designed to kill spinners. 0mm ground clearance at the front.
2: A 10kg hardox scoop like the one above, but with a Pneumatic axe powered by 2 2kg Co2 tanks using a 3kg Terrorhurtz-style axehead and a 100mm stroke 180mm ram at 200psi. It can strike with around 600kg of force, and can be recessed into the body of the robot, keeping it invertible. 0mm ground clearance at the front.
3: A set of Panic Attack-style lifting forks, powered by a 50:1 reduced 25.9v S28-400 Magmotor. It can lift 250kg. 0mm ground clearance under the forks.
4: A Behemoth-style lifting scoop, using a 75mm bore 100mm stroke ram and a 2kg Co2 tank. It can flip 400kg and lift 500kg. 0mm ground clearance at the front.
    5: A 4-bar Biohazard-style lifter, using a geared-down S28-400 Magmotor. It can lift 300kg. 0mm ground clearance at the front.

Srimech: Invertible in all setups except for setup 6. Setups 2, 4, and 5 can all self-right the robot.
    Strengths: 7 WEAPON SETUPS!!!
Weaknesses: There has to be at least 1 problem with each setup.
Bio: The first Team Blood Mages robot with interchangeable weaponry. Will it work? We'll see...
    Win/Loss Ratio: N/A

  5. #5
    BLAST

    € WEIGHT: 100kg

€ ARMOUR: 3.25mm Hardox monocoque for the sides/rear, 8mm Titanium for the top, and 1cm Hardox scoop, with 2cm of PU foam behind it to absorb shock from the front.

€ SHAPE: Low box with sides and rear angled at 35* (sides€™ angled outwards (\) rear angled inwards (/)), meaning that, combined with the skirts, it€™s harder for robots to get under the sides and rear. The front scoop is angled at 50* with the 10* mounted front spikes.

    € MOTORS: 2 x LEM130€™s at 24V = 6HP

€ LOCOMOTION: 4 x Vulkanised Wheels 30mm in width and 170mm in diameter with Titanium hubs with 8 spokes.

    € DIMENSIONS: (L) 85CM (W) 80CM (H) 21CM

€ COLOUR: Blue all over, except for the scoop, which is black with the name in blood red on the scoop.

€ WEAPONRY: Blast uses a weapon system combining the scoop and part of the top armour. The weapon is a FP flipper consisting of the whole scoop, and a 20cm wide, 75cm long section from the top, powered by 750psi pneumatics from a 110mm non-attached ram with buffer tanks to prevent freezing. The ram is geared to 3.5, producing 1000kg of force, which is a lot, and becoming from a large ram, it can flip a robot of equal weight 5ft upwards. The gas is stored in a single 2.5kg tank, giving 15 flips. The scoop has 2 x 1cm Hardox barbs built into it, in the middle with a 6cm gap between them, running flat along the floor, able to get under anything. This, combined with the speed, power and scoop should allow me to flip things about with ease.

    € SPEED: 22MPH

€ GROUND CLEARANCE: 0mm-8mm. 6mm Titanium skirts are on the sides and rear, making it 0mm with 8mm under the skirts.

    € STRENGTH: Rebilability and weapon.

€ WEAKNESS: Not as much power as other robots.

    HARRAZ

    € WEIGHT: 100kg

€ ARMOUR: 5mm Hardox monocoque. The insides have 2cm of PU foam on all sides to absorb hits from spinners.

€ SHAPE: Low box with sides and rear angled in triangles, like < and > meaning that it€™s harder to damage with a spinner, and the front to corners are cut off to make it harder to rip a panel off at the corners. The front is flat, to help with ramming robots hard into hazards, or just general ramming.

    € MOTORS: 2 x PERM PMG 080€™s€™s at 36V = 32HP

€ LOCOMOTION: 4 x Vulkanised Wheels 50mm in width and 180mm in diameter with Titanium hubs with 8 spokes.

    € DIMENSIONS: (L) 80CM (W) 80CM (H) 17CM

€ COLOUR: Blue all over, except for the lifter, which is black with the name in blood red on the top running vertically down the lifter.

€ WEAPONRY: Harraz uses a lifting arm mounted in the middle of the robot, running 70cm up the robot, 20cm in width. It€™s powered by a S28-400 MagMotor at 24V, geared to lift 500kg up and over. The lifter can be used to self-right the robot AND pin other robots down once flipped, so I can push them around even easier. The lifter has a 7cm long Titanium wedge to flip getting under other robots more easily.

    € SPEED: 20MPH

€ GROUND CLEARANCE: 0mm-10mm. 6mm Titanium skirts are on the sides and rear, making it 0mm with 10mm under the skirts.

€ STRENGTH: Power and weapon combination allow me to push other robots with ease.

€ WEAKNESS: Lack of properly damaging weapons.

Lookin forward 2 this Kody, looks really good
