Not sure if I am going to use 9.6, 12 or 18 volt drill motors yet, but what would be the optimum voltage for these motors, I have heard that you should only overvolt by 50% is this correct. I will be running 100mm wheels

In reality there isn't much point to overvolting drill motors as they are generally too quick as they are, however if you wish to overvolt a good rule of thumb to follow with all motors is to, as you said, run them at 150% of their rated voltage. This is by no means a guarantee that your motors won't burn out but gives you somewhere to start from.
Has anybody got any thoughts on the best voltage drill to use ie 9.6 12 or 18 volt (before overvolting)
id go for 12 volt drills then you could either go on a 12volt batt or 2x 7.2v in series to make 14.4v
yeh, I want to know about drill motors as well, like how much faster do they go when you overvolt them if you use 50% more volts than your spost to does it go 50% faster
yep thats right only over volt by max of 50 % to ensure the longevity of the motors (obviously over volting a motor can kill it)
thanks
overvolting drill motors wont do much, they are generally fast enough as they are.
depends what your after
even with 100mm blue wheels 500 RPM drill motors only go 5.9 MPH and I think thats to slow , were as 750 RPM Drill motors with 100mm wheels goes 8.85 MPH which is fast enough
