From Glasgow, Scotland, Wedge Devolution!
Wedge Devo has returned, looking to score big and to flip robots with the same flipper with plenty of strong flips which can chuck opponents into the mesosphere! 4mm Hardox is the armour, which is quite strong. However, no matter how many flips it has, it will run out, so it€™s got to be careful.
From England, Armoured Wedgie 2.0!
Armoured Wedge is another new robot to the sport, but do NOT be fooled! It€™s got a very big forward hinged flipper which can flip opponents easily; top that with tough armour, and good pushing power. Quite possibly, this is the opponent to beat here.
From Texas in the USA, Bandwagon 3!
Bandwagon is a new robot made by Mark Elam, driven by 24v S28-400 motors, with a very nasty rear hinged flipper on board that is powered by 2 Co2 tanks. The armour is tough as well, and it€™s a good all-rounder, but it€™s made by a novice€¦ does that make a difference?
Roboteers, stand by€¦
In booth 1, there is Steve and Lewis at the controls of Wedge Devo and Armoured Wedgie respectively, and in the second booth, there is Mark Elam standing alone at the controls of Bandwagon. There is also Shunt in the 1st CPZ, with the axe and the lifting scoop, and Mangled Metal in the other corner with the spinning ring of DEATH.
3€¦ 2€¦ 1€¦ ACTIVATE!!!
The battle has begun, and Wedge Devo is the first to move, but Bandwagon immediately moves towards Armoured Wedgie, and gets underneath!
FLIP!
The flip sends Armoured Wedgie flying, and it comes down with a thud! Armoured Wedgie self-rights, and fights back by getting underneath the side skirts of Bandwagon somehow and flipping it into the pit button! Now, the pit opens, and Bandwagon immediately self-rights at once! Wedge Devo joins the fun and gets underneath Armoured Wedgie, and now it carries the Wedgie into the spinner of Mangled Metal!
CRASH!!!
The spinner slams Armoured Wedgie with great amount of force, and Lewis€™s machine is sent spinning away, there! A dent can be seen in the armour, and now, Wedge Devo has even more fun with Armoured Wedgie, but it turns and gets underneath Wedge Devo and slams it into Mangled Metal!
CRASH!!!
One of the skirts is ripped off completely, and lying on the arena floor, but Bandwagon tries to avenge Wedge Devo by slamming into Armoured Wedgie and carrying it to the wall! Can Bandwagon do it€¦
FLIP!
YES! Armoured Wedgie is out of there, and a fantastic performance by Bandwagon, I must say! All over in less than 45 seconds!
CEASE!
Armoured Wedgie gets yanked right in the€¦ well, you get the idea.
Wedge Devo and Bandwagon goes through to Round 2!

From Hoogvilet in Holland, Splinter!
Splinter? Isn€™t that the name of the robot that got trashed by Hypno-Disc in the 4th Wars? However, it€™s much improved, with a new axe and grabbing arms, but it€™s still got somewhat weak armour, so it could get ugly again here, now that there are TWO spinners on steroids. :P
From Escondio, California, Megabyte!
Noted for winning the 2003 RFL championship, Megabyte is a very good robot with an outer shell that spins madly, hoping to cause damage to the max. However, it€™s got a very slow self-righting mechanism. Good robot, though.
From Shrewsbury in Shropshire, and the Number 7 seeds, The Final Cut!
Here we have lucky number 7, The Final Cut, with tracks instead of wheels, a HUGE spinning flywheel, and built by Andrew Jackson. It€™s very sturdy and destructive, but still tracks are exposed from the top, so 7 might not really be the lucky number for this robot.
Roboteers, Stand by€¦
There is Leo Van Miert and Tracy Farber in the first booth on the controls of Splinter and Megabyte, and Andrew Jackson looks focused there on the controls of Final Cut in the second booth. The house robots in this fight are noted for their huge hammers, yup, it€™s Head Smash and Mr. Psycho!
3€¦ 2€¦ 1€¦ ACTIVATE!!!
Off we go with the second battle of the night, and already, the two spinners spin up to speed. Splinter€¦ doesn€™t know what to do. Megabyte comes in onto the side of Splinter, carefully avoiding the front scoop!
CRASH!!!
Splinter is spun away, and the grabbing arm on one side is totally bent! A part of the armour is ripped away, as well! Now, it tries to retaliate and chases after Megabyte! Now, Megabyte immediately gets away, and up to speed again! The Final Cut now comes in on Splinter€™s side!
CRASH!!!
The other side is totally crunched, and pieces of armour go flying out of control and Splinter is running in circles, Megabyte now comes in with the spinner, and it slams itself into Splinter€™s side again!
CRASH!!!
How about that for a hit! The right side panel of Splinter is just hanging on by a thread, and I cannot believe that it€™s still mobile€¦ well, only just. Splinter made the series semi€™s in Robot Wars Series 4, only to get absolutely mangled in the 4th Round by Hypno-Disc, and it looks as though it€™s going to happen yet again! The Final Cut spins up now€¦
CRASH!!!!
... and it has now ripped open one side of Splinter completely, exposing the mechanics! Leo puts the controls down, I think he€™s given up already! The Final Cut slams into the side again for the final blow!
CRASH!!!
The flywheel of The Final Cut spins Splinter away, and out comes some internal parts! Dear oh dear. Refbot comes in for the final countdown!

Splinter is out of there! In come the house robots, and now, Head Smash and Mr. Psycho both come in with the hammer!
CRASH!!!
OH!! The armour takes more severe punishments, and now, Head Smash pushes the pit button, and Mr Psycho grabs Splinter! Now, it drags the remains of Splinter€â€look at that€â€and now, it drops Splinter into the pit! BOOM!
CEASE!
That wasn€™t even a battle.
