Thread: Vapourbot Vengeance Series 1

  1. #211
Cough..... ummm.... anyone fancy a Hypo?

Basically, university this year got intense. Loads of assignments, more lectures and more work, which has resulted in me having virtually no spare time whatsoever. So instead of leaving this to rot, I have decided that I am going to Hypo the whole series UP TO the Grand Final (final four robots). So, here goes nothing... hope you enjoy!

VAPOURBOT VENGEANCE - THE ROAD TO GLORY!

Heat A got underway in a blaze of glory, with super-spinner Vader and the pesky feline Pussycat proving to all that real robots really do have the most fun, but it was the vapourbot from Manchester, HOT SAUCE, that proved too hot for its opponents, flipping its way into the semi finals.

In Heat B, things were looking Grim for Barbaric Response and Big Nipper, as Flick of the Wrist pushed and pitted its way to the heat final. Sadly, it wasnt to be for the vapour from Holland, as GRIM REAPER reaped what it sowed, sending Flicky over the fence and out.

Heat C saw the rise and fall of The Stag and Hassocks Hog, but also saw our very first Judges Decision. Axetra was given the chop, as DANTOMKIA soared into the series semis!

Heat D proved to be unlucky for 13 Black and Herbinator, who were smashed, sliced and bewildered by the Aussie Orror, INFUSION, the second vapour to make it through to the semi finals!

In Heat E, Axe-o-Lotl didnt have a lotl lotl laughs, as it was thwacked over and over and over again by the barbers pole, Barberous 2 n a bit. It was reigning champion TORNADO who breezed into the semi finals, pitting Tetanus Booster to claim that coveted place.

Heat F saw spinners and flippers collide, as tenth seed X-Terminator slice and dice its way through the competition. It was no match for the colossus from Cardiff APOCALYPSE, who flipped X-Terminator over, and out!

It was all systems go in Heat G, as Atomic blazed its way through its melee, showing Cygnus X3 and Terror Turtle the outside of the arena. It met its match in the heat semi, however, in the form of WEDGAS REVENGE, who then flipped SMIDSY over the fence!

It was spin to win in Heat H, as the srimech-less DREAMCATCHER span its way into the series semi finals, proving to be a nightmare for Scraptosaur and Ceros!

There were eyes galore in Heat I, as Eye of Ran avenged the Steel Avenger and shredded Shredder Evolution in its opening melee. It then endangered the Rhino in the next round, before succombing to the eye of the STORM II, resulting in the Eye of Ran being pitted.

Heat J saw Thermidor II flip its way into the heat final, giving the claw to Mobot and 8654T 2 in its melee, before getting shredded by eventual heat winner DISCO 5 - the real lord of the dance!

Heat K saw Mantis grapple and claw its way past Jabber and Infernal Contraption in its opening melee, only to be send flying by Heyght in the second round. In the heat final, it was Heyght who lived up to its name, being tossed out of the arena by BULLDOG BREED after a fantastically flipping good battle!

Heat L proved that not only do your robots have to be in top nick, but also your driving! Corkscrew Two having one too many before the show, driving itself into the pit. Deja vu, anyone? In the second round, Behemoth was outmanouvered and pitted by eventual heat winner SLAMMER, Judge Shred facing the same fate in the heat final.

It was Mmmmmmurder in Heat M, as Tough as Nails quickly dispatched of Disco-Inferno, and Spin Doctor was spun out. Panic Attack was then pitted unceremoniously in the second round, leaving Tough as Nails in the final against the unknown Scot-bot, and eventual heat winner, WEDGE DEVOLUTION, proving that no nail is too tough. Tough as Nails, flipped into Matildas CPZ and left for dead.

Heat N saw many old faces come back... and then very quickly leave! TopBot, ROCS, Neater Machine and Chip all falling foul in the opening melees. In the second round, Dutch entrant Eternia proved too good for the seeded Spawn Again, but superior driving by the RAGING KNIGHTMARE team led them into the series semi finals, Eternia hanging up its clogs!

In our penultimate heat, Canadian entrant Tira IV dished out from disc-usting disc-truction, slashing and slicing Xenomorph and Hammerhead 2 out of the competition. Bigger Brother then flipped Disconstrictor out of the arena, as Tira failed to blow the Typhoon off its deadly warpath. The heat final saw showers of sparks, before a lucky flip saw Typhoon go over on its back, BIGGER BROTHER scraping through to the series semis!

Our final heat, Heat P was double dutch, as Dutch entrants Bamm Bamm were bammed out of the competition, flipped over and then dumped into the pit within seconds of the melee starting! Another Dutch entrant, Flank Attack, squeezed its way past Ripper in the second round, before being out-classed by the veterans FIRESTORM in the heat final!

The curse of the hypothetical strikes again!

Ah well. Ill aim for Bulldog Breeds sides, toss it over and either try to pit it or throw it out.

    THE ROAD TO GLORY CONTINUES...

Semi Final One saw crashes and bashes galore, as 8 of the heat winners battled it out for a place in the Grand Final of Vapourbot Vengeance! In the first fight, Tornado rammed and slammed Raging Knightmare around the arena, before being dumped into the pit of oblivion. Dantomkia flipped, fought and frightened Infusion, but electrical problems put the machine from Surrey out of the competition, Infusion from Australia going through. It was a Welsh wonders battle next, as Apocalypse and DreamCatcher met. DreamCatcher got up to speed and hit the Cardiff machine a good few times, but a lack of a srimech and a fantastically timed flip from Liam Eliot sent DreamCatcher on its back - it€™s dreams dashed! Our final round one fight saw Bulldog Breed and Wedge Devolution tussle in a flipping good battle. Both machines had the upper hand at some point in the battle, but it was Wedge Devolution who managed to flip the dog out of the arena, Bulldog Breed being put down for good!

In round two, Tornado slammed the Aussie Infusion around the arena walls and into Sgt Bash€™s CPZ, but it was not enough to win - Infusion getting its wedge underneath the side of Tornado and using it€™s kinetic torque to drive Tornado into the pit, nearly following it in too! In the other battle, it was Wales v Scotland, as Apocalypse signalled the end of the world for Wedge Devolution, the machine from Wales winning a narrow Judge€™s Decision, 105 to 102 points!

Semi Final Two was not a walk in the park for the other 8 heat winners, as they too grappled and tackled each other to win one of only two places in the Grand Final! Veterans FireStorm breezed through its opening fight, slamming Alex Holt€™s Slammer into the arena wall and out of the arena. Storm II joined them in the second round, beating Grim Reaper on a Judge€™s Decision. Bigger Brother failed to live up to the family name, as damage sustained in it€™s heat final battle against Typhoon 2 left it at the mercy of Disco 5, a single flip was all it took as a loose CO2 valve left Bigger Brother on its back and unable to self right. The final round one battle saw Manchester€™s Hot Sauce against Lincoln€™s own Wedga€™s Revenge. Both machines managed to get their own back on the House Robots, but it wasn€™t enough for Hot Sauce, who proved too mild in the arena€¦ and out of it - courtesy of a sky high flip from Wedga€™s Revenge!

In the second round of this semi final, FireStorm got underneath Storm II again and again and again, but failed to capitalise on it - the match ending with FireStorm being outpushed by Storm 2, and pushed out of the competition The other battle saw Disco 5 dance its way around Wedga€™s Revenge, the latter being pitted by the machine from Essex!

So we have our 4 Grand Finalists! They are:

    From Australia, Infusion!
    From Cardiff, Apocalypse!
From Ipswich, the sixteenth seeds, Storm II!
    From Essex, Disco 5!

    THE GRAND FINAL LINEUPS!

    EL FINAL GRANDE
    Round One

From Ipswich, seeded number sixteen€¦ Storm II!

    From Australia€¦ Infusion!

    House Robots: Matilda and Shunt

    3€¦2€¦1€¦ACTIVATE!

And it€™s go! go! go! as Storm II immediately powers towards the Aussie Infusion and aims to get underneath the front wedge. Infusion, however, has other plans, as instead of moving towards its opponent continues to stay in its starting position - the spinning outer ring whirring manically and causing the dust on the arena floor to blow wildly. Storm II gets nearer and nearer Infusion, and eventually slams head first into the front wedge€¦ but fails to get underneath, instead the impact sending both machines recoiling backwards. Infusion begins to start its attack - moving towards Storm II, who is recovering from the first collision, and aims to get the front wedge underneath the side skirts. Storm II, however, quickly speeds up and comes in for another smash on Infusion - this time breeching the front wedge and sending the machine from Down Under into the arena wall! The plexiglass wall of the arena shudders wildly, but withstands the colossal impact! Aaron Knight frantically drives Infusion away from the arena wall, the spinning rim already rotating at its top speed, but Storm II comes in once again for a slam. This time, however, it€™s Infusion who comes out on top - some dodgy driving by the Storm II team sends their machine careering into the arena wall, with a quick-thinking Aaron Knight reversing Infusion into its opponent. The noise of metal on metal fills the air, as the side panel of Storm II is scratched ferociously, as if a wildcat had attacked it! Aaron reverses again, but Storm II nimbly gets out of dangers way and propels itself towards the pit release button, Matilda looking on curiously from her CPZ. The siren whirrs out, as Infusion gives chase to Storm II, the latter of the too machines having the edge in the speed department. Storm II speedily turns on the spot and drives straight towards Infusion, once again getting underneath the front Hardox wedge of the Aussie machine and slamming it into the arena side wall. The plexiglass wobbles once more, and remains in one piece. Storm II begins to use it€™s Biohazard style lifter to prop Infusion against the wall - but fails in doing so, Infusion falling off the lifter and onto the arena floor, immediately spinning its rim once again to cause damage to the bot from Ipswich. Aaron drives the wedge of Infusion underneath the side skirts of Storm II and manages to get 3 of the Vulcalon-coated wheels off the arena floor. Storm II spins its wheels madly, hoping to get enough traction on the arena floor to get it off the front wedge - the screech of rubber on the arena floor flooding the arena! Aaron carefully manoeuvres Infusion and it€™s prey towards the pit, but Storm II is gaining more and more grip on the floor, as it nearly manages to get itself off the front wedge of Infusion. The machines get nearer and nearer the pit, but with every bump and jolt Infusion has on the arena floor, Storm Ii is closer to getting off the wedge. The wheels whirr hectically, as if finally gets enough grip on the arena floor to drive off the wedge€¦ and into the pit! The puff of smoke rising from the pit signals to Aaron that after all that - he is into the Vapourbot Vengeance Grand Final!

Storm II blew that fight, didn€™t it!

INFUSION GOES THROUGH TO THE GRAND FINAL!!!

Next up: Apocalypse VS Disco 5!

    EL FINAL GRANDE
    Fight Two

    Disco 5 VS Apocalypse

    From Essex€¦DISCO 5!

    From Cardiff€¦APOCALYPSE!

House Robots: Dead Metal and Sgt Bash wearing a tinsel scarf€¦ because even House Robots can be festive!

    3€¦2€¦1€¦ACTIVATE!

Almost immediately, Apocalypse storms out from its starting position and heads straight towards Disco 5, whose rear vertical disc is rotating madly, the blades becoming nothing but blurs! Disco 5 moves forwards and crashes straight into the charging Apocalypse, the latter riding up the front wedge of Disco 5 and getting flipped over by the front forward-hinged flipper. Apocalypse is turned over but self rights effortlessly in a split second thanks to its high pressured pneumatic flipper. Liam goes back on the attack and drives Apocalypse into the side of Disco 5, aiming to get underneath the Titanium skirts. The tactic works, as Disco 5 is launched skywards, spinning erratically through the air before landing back onto the arena floor with a huge clunk, the titanium armouring of the Essex-based bot bruised, but not broken. Disco 5, who has finally come to a stop on its back, swiftly self rights, only for Apocalypse to crash into it once again. Another flip from Apocalypse sends Disco 5 rolling over onto its wheels, Martyn quickly driving his machine away from any immediate danger to get the rear disc spinning up. Apocalypse give chase, hoping to get the ferocious flipper underneath Disco 5 once more and end this battle. The flipper gets nearer and nearer Disco 5 as the gap closes, but it€™s Disco 5 who ends up taking advantage! A swift reversing move by Disco 5 sends the flipper of Apocalypse up Disco 5€™s rear skirt and straight into the path of the spinning disc. Sparks fly as the impact of disc and flipper sends Apocalyse over onto its back, only for Disco 5 to carry on the attack, continuing to reverse into it€™s opponent. Liam Eliot activates Apocalypse€™s flipper in order to self right, which it does in superb style one must say, but ends up landing straight onto the disc of Disco 5, the vertical spinner ripping through the 4mm Aluminium baseplate of the Welsh machine. Disco 5 continues to reverse it€™s disc into Apocalypse, the disc sending shards of Aluminium upwards into the air, littering the arena. Liam fires the flipper again in pure desperation in order to get Apocalypse off Disco€™s disc, but it is well and truly stuck, as Disco 5 slams Apocalypse into the arena side wall, narrowly missing the pit release button as it does so. There is nowhere for Apocalypse to go but upwards, as the disc of Disco 5 continues to spin - albeit much much slower than usually - lifting Apocalypse slowly into the air, getting ever so near the top of the arena wall. Dead Metal charges across from its CPZ and slams into Disco 5, sending Martyn€™s machine away from the arena wall and towards the centre of the arena, the charge from the House Robot sending Apocalypse - who was practically on top of the arena wall - over the other side and out!

Apocalypse signalled the end of the world for itself€¦ IRONY!!

DISCO 5 GOES THROUGH TO THE GRAND FINAL!!

    NEXT TIME:

    THE GRAND FINAL!

    Infusion VS Disco 5!

Tactics, Predictions, etc, sil vous plait!
