Nice work guys. That floor looks real slippy.

Spoke to the sewer snake guys at the uk champs in 06 and they told me the UK floor wasnt to dissimilar to the steel they fight on in the US.
Well done guys. Who was driving storm? Im guessing Tim...looked more thought out driving then Ed would do lol mr smashy :P
they must be doing alot of waiting around
not much happening on there blog
not many teams signed up tho so doubt they wont get many fights

They had to wait till the last show between 8 and 10 before they could fight today, against sewer snake. I dunno if they updated there blog already.
Anyway i love spinners and flamethrowers. Ive seen some really good fights. :d
They do have some serieus safety issues. Ive seen 2 robots burn out today. Of which i think they are both lipo battery burns. But im not sure yet.
Firt was in the pits. only saw 1.5m high flames for a few seconds, dunno about how it happend orso.
The second one was inside the arena.
When i shout get the robot outside!!! they just should back get off the ramp. Which i respect as they had to clear the way out. But then it surprizes me. The driver walks in, sits in the white smoke and disables his robot. He stand up, has a laugh about it and waits till the exinguisers (however you write it)arrive. Then they try to put it out. Afterwards walk with the robot outside.
The whole arena and audiance was covered in a bad smell. Luckely someone did open the fire exit, to let some fresh air in. But hardly anyone seems to care. Good thing i work in the home respiratory care and sell medical oxigen.
Also the medical lady with the beautifull blue eyes, dont seem to respond to the smoke. For the rest she does do good work on handeling battery acid on the floor. Putting fences around it untill its cleaned. Telling me im only allowed to sit on the box that i was standing on, as little children might try to do the same.
Also people arm up there robot inside the arena, while just sitting in front or behind it.
So far ive seen only one flipper, which did launch a robot into the roof. Was fun to see.
Best quote yesterday was from one of the builders/driver from last rides saying to Ed you guys seem tough as nails while im standing next to them. As they talked about the heavy bar spinner.
Do: tiny wheels, big spinning bar
Dont: 4 big wheels, tiny drum spinner
Spinners are countered by more wheels on a robot and a lot of spare parts.
And it took me half a day to find out what tapp off means. They tapp against the arena wall to stop the fight when there robot is too damaged. And its well respected by the opponents.
Ok, time to walk to the irish pub and get some cider.

Unlucky Storm II
Hope they enjoyed the competition
That must be depressing
Still...Storm III...
.................................................. .
Maybe next year.
Thanks for all the support, we enjoyed the competition very much and it was great to see some new robots and meet more roboteers with some very different ideas to us over here.
Having done some testing after the Eugene fight we realised it was not a difference in floor material but actually we had very bad reception issues (for the first time ever on the 459 kit). I knew something wasnt right in the first fight floor seemed the most likely cuplrit on first impressions.
We put the 2.4GHz kit in and she drove like a dream, until she blew up a drive gear in the Sewer Snake fight. It was a very tight match till that point and one heck of a long wait since our previous fight, at least we had two camera crews following our story to keep us entertained - Watch out for an appearance on The Gadget Show in the near future!
