Robots Live CGI intro

I am now doing my final year doing comuter animation and special effects. Part of the course is to work very hard on a final year project. I have decided to do some work with robots live and make some kind of CGI dvd into.
Inspired by transformers I have decided to use that as some kind of theme and I will use this thread as a kind of blog.

Big nipper is one of the robots and the concept was to make it into a kind of robot beetle.

I have now fully rendered big nipper
As far as aesthetics go it is a complete identicle version.
I took many reference photos at the midlands expo
and for the past two days I have made this high polygon model

Lol well I dont have any feathers planned and even if I did orange dave would be the last on my list :P
A few more renderings, sorry no robots but I have decided to work on faces just for practise. Im also trying to side track transforming big nipper till I return to uni. Im sure the lecturers have some advice.

Just done a presentation for my university showing them some info on the Robots Live CGI intro thing.
They seemed fairly suportive apart from being concerned that the robots transformation would be too breif and make not much sence. They recomended that the transformation should be used to maybe get them out of a sticky situation. Rather then currently they transform just for the hell of it and then for some reasson transform back.

Any hows, here is some concept art for the current story board.

Just thought id post how the big nipper render is doing and as you can see, very shiny. Not like the current big nipper
