308:1 gearing gives you only around 12 rpm... which means these arent really for drive...

Geoff do you reckon thats the remains of the robot that we duffed up in the qualifiers for S7, alongside Chromalot? it had an optimistic 1mm lexan armour... made up to look like a stealth bomber?

Didnt really fancy starting a new thread for more eBay stuff. Saw these on a random trawl:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Small-but-powerful-12V-electric-motor_W0QQitemZ170114762144QQihZ007QQcategoryZ774Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Small-but-powe...emZ17011476214 4QQihZ007QQcategoryZ774QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcm dZViewItem

May be of use to someone, not sure if they are just motors from drills or whether theyre stock RC car motors (or similar), reckoned someone on here would be able to tell though

Also, a linear actuator if anyones after one:

Item number: 180119245784 (the eBay page wouldnt hyperlink properly)

Not so great for crushing (only about 40kg) but fine for lifters

Seen a few of these on eBay over the past year with the same picture - Im beginning to wonder if its the same one being sold on again and again

how do you these to make lifters?

    Really easily

The actuator has a bolt hole at either end (one on the back of the motor casing and one at the front end of the extending bit)

Bolt the motor casing hole to a pivot point in your chassis, bolt the other end to a pivot point on your lifter arm, and then the inwards and outwards motion of the actuator raises and retracts your lifting arm (much in a similar way to how pneumatic rams work, except you dont get the same speed of firing from them; they are a much slower alternative)

If you look at the picture of Vertigo on Ewans profile, there are two mounted there - one very similar to the eBay item used for the grabbing claw, and another used for his lifting arm.
