Thread: Battery amps

  1. #1
    I am currently running 2 x 17 amp sla for 24v
but they weigh 12kg, so I am thinking about
    changing to 36v bot packs.
How many amps on average does a h/w robot use
    per fight ????????
I suppose 3.3ah will never be enough?

We normally use 4Ah on easy days but have used anywhere up to 12-16Ah during a full fight.

In Turbulence we just about get away with 6amp battlepacks and thats with Boschs on 24v running 10 wheels on a very high gear ratio. Most people play it safe and go for 9amp though.

  5. mario, its not 38mah but 3800 mah / 3.8 ah. That would be the IB3800 NiMh cells, at 72 euro per 18 cells. so 2.7 pound a cell

http://www.neumotors.com/store.htmlhttp://www.neumotors.com/store.html has them cheaper at 1.6 pound a cell, but theyre USA

Right now i have 11.1 Ah @ 36V MiMh (3x30 cells). With Nicads you can have higher discharges so you might get away with 9Ah.

I didnt want to risk it on 7.4Ah. It still saved me 10 kgs.

For series 7 we used 2 Sanyo 2.4Ah packs in parrellel for the drive for our 400 Watt motors and bearly made it through 5 mins. Since then we used 3 packs in parrellel, but I would recommended the same as Ed and John, they weight more but are a much safer option and can give out more peak Amps when needed.

    Cheers everyone,
well it looks like minimum is 3 x 3ah 36v packs,
not sure my budget can run to £500 and also buy new chargers, I wonder if you can buy Sanyo N-3000CR racing packs as ive seen 3.3ah 7.2v for £23 that was gp though, but they are alot cheaper.
Oh Ed, better not blink I normally get airtime in the arena so im not in it very long !!
