30A powerpole connectors are designed to be soldered to the cable rather than crimped (although they can be crimped with the right tool) - and can be attached in many different connector arrangements. They should be an ideal solution if youve got a soldering iron to hand (or can purchase the Antex 80W iron when you buy your ball transfer units, as this is an ideal iron for the kind of work youd be looking at doing).

You could get away with 2.5sq-mm cable, but the larger the cable, the lower the resistance, so 4sq-mm should be a better solution. Silicone cable is the type ideal for combat robots (flexible and high temperature handling) and is sold by both technobots and Gimson Robotics).
