16bar CO2 Regulators.

Hi,
Can anybody recommend a good supplier or make of CO2 regulators which can provide up to 16bar Output. The supply is from a standard CO2 extinguisher bottle and is for a €˜Low Pressure€™ system. Final working pressure I€™m looking for is 10-12 bar.

We got the CO2 Regulator 10bar
cheap one and it seems to work fine- the CO2 Regulator GA400 would be a good upgrade though.

I bought a Kenmac KPR regulator for pressures up to 17barg with a Cv of 0.5 in brass (not stainless steel) for £212. Kenmac have been taken over by Swagelock, but still offer the same valves. I dont know the current price of this valve. My valve worked well. It gave high flow when required, held the outlet pressure well, and did not ice up with solid CO2 inside. It was fairly expensive!

Yep Kenmac reg works a treat, but you are wise to restrict the usable pressure to 12 bar. I found that the extra power at 16 bar simply used up CO2 faster, and didnt add that much to the flip... except shearing the ram mounts.
Using the flipper calculator that Noel developed on the Hassocks Hog site, I worked out that 14 bar gave the best mix of power and number of flips.

Thanks for the info Guys. Yep weve found the Kenmac Regs and they look like theyll do the job nicely.
Jeremy one question though. Why did you go for Brass over Stainless steel? and did you look at the Alloy options they offer?

I got the Kenmac KPR through a gas equipment supplier, and I bought it in brass because it was cheaper. Dry CO2 is not corrosive, so there is no reason not to use the cheapest material available. I didnt know that they made them in aluminium alloy, but I would expect brass to be the cheapest material of construction.

PS. My recollection is that the stainless steel regulators to the same spec cost over £250 at that time.
