I am looking to start building my first ant weight robot. Ive found a few sites where i can buy lots of different bits and pieces but Im a bit unsure as to what will work with what? I have a basic knowledge with electronics and RC stuff but I want to be sure before I buy anything? Can anyone suggest a place where i can buy a kit of parts that I can put together to build my ant weight?? or has anyone got a suggestion as to the best way to go about things. Any help would be greatfully recieved as I am building the robot with my 8 year old nephew who is rather excited about the prospect. Thanx. Paul

    thanx.

ive had a look and found a beginners construction kit in the ant shop. its available with a 3 channel 40 mhz transmitter. do u recon this set would be enough for me to build a decent little robot? what else would i need on top of this kit? would the 3rd channel be ok for me to use a spinning disc? would i need to drive tank style with it?

You could use it for a spinner but yes, you would have to have tank style steering.

I brought it and it worked fine for me

On top of the kit you would need armour, wheels and a motor for a spinner, but if you contact Pete Collier ( the person who runs it) I am sure he could modify it to suit your need and give you plenty of advice cos he is nice like that

Just connect the servos to channels 1 and 2 and hold the Tx at a 45 degree angle, this will give the effect of mixing.

does anyone use the C&F 27Mhz Transmitter that technobots have for sale for just under £40?

it looks ok to me, but is it legal for antweights and does it work ok?

I dont know to be honest. I think that at one point you could use 27mhz in antweights but i do not know if that is still legal. I recomend you have a look through the robotwars101.org forum to see if it has the answer.

it says in the rules (the version on antweights.co.uk) that you can have 27Mhz.

Does the set from technobots have changeable crystals?

you must have to be able swap them so that you dont get interference during battles?????

am i right or am i missing something?
