Thread: Velociraptor's Fanfic Tournament - Series 6!

  1. #1
Hello, everyone, and welcome to the SIXTH series of Velociraptors Fanfic Tournament!
Ive found myself with more free time than I expected, so no harm in starting to take entries now!

This tournament series began on a small scale with just 16 robots, out of which Andy Jacksons Son Of Ripper emerged the winner!
A three-tournament reign of terror by Aaron Knight followed, first with Disctruction Evo and then two tournaments with the infamous Mass Disctruction Ultimate coming first!
But last series, Aaron dropped out for personal reasons, so a new champ was guaranteed - and that champ was another infamous Vapourbot, Frank Goachers destructive The Disc 2!
Hopefully, The Disc 2 (or an updated version) will return to defend his title, but 127 robots will be equally determined to strip him of it! Of course, those robots will all have to be entered by you, so please come and join in the destruction in VELOCIRAPTORS FANFIC TOURNAMENT SERIES 6!

Right, lets get started. Ive decided to revise the seeding chart, as I forgot to include some of the veterans that did well in previous VFTs but not so well in VFT5, and Ive repositioned a few robots:

    01. The Disc 2
    02. WX 6.0 (or TIRTASM if it enters and WX doesnt)
    03. Monsoons Back
    04. Killotine Evo
    05. Influenza
    06. Tempest Evil-oution
    07. SD IV
    08. Windyer Killer
    09. MDU 3.1
    10. Gigavirus
    11. Son Of Ripper 3.5
    12. NSBFR
    13. Parasite
    14. TSC / Super Flipping Mad Mk?
    15. Annoying Box Rush
    16. Scottish Fiction Mk2
    17. Angel Of The Abyss
    18. Hannibal
    19. WOSS 1.5
    20. The Crashing Bore
    21. David Sheppard
    22. Code 14
    23. Heir To Black Panther III
    24. Whirligig 3.0
    25. Maximum Velocity
    26. Typhoon 2
    27. Warhead
    28. Omega
    29. Dervish Quatro
    30. Disco 5
    31. Hypertension
    32. Achilles

And here are the competition rules. Please read carefully, as we have a lot to go through again:

    01. I need 16 people to enter 8 robots each, Vapourbots or real. AT LEAST ONE OF YOUR ROBOTS MUST BE REAL. You cant enter a real robot if someones already entered an earlier or later version of the same robot or series of robots. The tournament will work like Series 7 (16 heats, each with 2 Round 1 four-robot melees from which 2 robots go through).

    02. This information is required for Vapourbots (you can give more if you want):
    Weight
    Shape
    Dimensions (l x w x h)
    Speed
Locomotion (mention what its made of, eg: if its wheels, are they foam filled?)
    Ground Clearance
    Armour
    Weaponry
    Srimech
    At least one strength
    At least one weakness

    03. The weight limits are 100kg for wheeled robots, 110kg for shufflers and tracked robots, and 150kg for walkers.

    04. Clusterbots are allowed - there is a 4 part limit for them. A clusterbot is not eliminated unless all parts are immobilised, but the loss of one or more parts will count heavily against the clusterbot in Damage if the match goes to the judges.

    05. Robots with passive or no weaponry are allowed, but I dont want too many. Flying robots are banned.

    06. Robots with interchangable weaponry are allowed. You must say when you first give your stats that your robot has interchangable weaponry, and what those weapons are. If after giving your stats, you come up with a new interchangable weapon you didnt mention before, or change one you did mention, the new weapon or change cannot be used.

    07. In judges decisions, the robots are marked on Aggression, Damage, Strategy, Style, Control and Dominance, with 10 points shared appropriately between them. If the score is 30-30, the robot who led in the most categories will win. If both robots led in an equal number of categories, the scores for each category will be multiplied based on how important the category is - Dominance x 6, Damage x 5, Aggression x 4, Control x 3, Strategy x 2, Style x 1. If the score is STILL even, it will be put to the vote amongst readers.

    08. The arena is the same - a large box surrounded by thick Lexan (it shouldnt be broken, and OOTAs are impossible) and a non magnetic metal floor. There is a pit in the top left corner, which is opened for 10 seconds by a release in the top right corner. In the bottom right corner is a horizontal spinning disc.

    09. A robot is considered KOd if it is not moving for 30 seconds, if it is pitted, or if it is flipped and cannot selfright. If a robot is propped against the wall, it does not count as immobile and if it isnt freed, the match will be paused so it can be.

    10. If two robots are immobilised at the same time by being flipped or being pitted, they will be righted and the match will continue. If one stops moving and the other is flipped or pitted, the flipped/pitted one wins if it is still capable of movement when righted. If both stop moving, a judges decision decides it.

    11. Basic Robot Wars rules apply to anything I havent mentioned.

And making a return are the side events. They are the All Stars, the Annihilator mini-tournament, and two new ones, the Football and the Challenge Belt!
They will take place between the second semi final and the grand final, except the All Stars, which will take place after the grand final.
You dont have to enter the side events, but if you do, you cant enter the same robot in more than one event. If not enough people enter an event, I will select extra entries at random.

*The All Stars will not be planned until the time comes to write it, to take VFT5 and VFT6 All Stars into account. I will be sorting out which and how many robots participate myself. In the case of Vapourbots, there can only be one Vapourbot representing each person - a person will be represented by their Vapourbot that has the best record in VFT.

*The Annihilator mini-tournament will have 6 three-robot Mayhems - one robot goes through from each Mayhem, into a 6-robot annihilator, which has one robot eliminated in each round until one is left. 18 robots will be needed - I need 9 people to enter two robots, either two Vapourbots, a Vapourbot and a real robot, or two real robots. They must be Vapourbots or real robots that you have also entered into VFT6.

*The Football will have 8 teams of 2 robots in two-on-two battles. There are no fixed positions you must put your robots in - you can have a striker and a goalie, or two strikers, or whatever. It will work like Techno Games Football, or the one in NSBFL, with a goal for each team and one ball.
When a goal is scored, the match is paused and the ball is returned to the centre before carrying on. When times up, the team with the most goals goes through - if its tied, a golden goal will decide the match. Robots can use their weapons on the ball, but not on each other - you can only shove another robot with the aim of possessing the ball or scoring a goal, not with intent to disable the other robot. Get too violent with opposing robots and you will get a yellow card, and if you do it again, a red one! Only the offending robot will be sent off - its teammate can stay on.
You can team up with another roboteer and enter one robot each, or enter two of your own robots. You are allowed to enter a robot(s) specifically designed for football, not combat (Im assuming you wont have entered these in VFT6), but if you enter a combat-designed Vapourbot or real robot, it must be one you entered in VFT6. You are also allowed to make small modifications to combat robots you enter (eg: flaps) to help them play footie, but nothing major.

*The Challenge Belt requires no fixed number of robots, but however many enter - each person can only enter one robot, Vapour or real. I will pick an appropriate robot (eg: one that has a good record in VFT or other competitions if its a VFT rookie) to hold the Belt and state the order of robots that will challenge the Belt Holder. A robot that wins three fights (if the original Belt Holder wins three, or if a robot takes the belt from the Holder and then wins two fights) gets to keep the Belt, and a new one will be given to the Belt Holder for it to defend. If the competition ends and the Belt Holder hasnt fought for the Belt being used three times, it will hold onto the belt until next time.

I think thats everything covered - so entrant spaces are now open! Please enter VFT6!

  2. #2
My 2 real robots will be Surgeon General from Battlebots 4.0 and Biohazard from Battlebots 5.0. My other robots will be Team Odins robots with modifications-

    1. Deep Impact 2

Shape: Low wedge (very similar to Double Agent in Battlebots 5.0)
    Colour: Sky blue and black
    Weight: 100kg
    Dimensions: 100 x 60 x 30cm
    Speed: 18mph
    Turning Circle: 0
Ground Clearance: 1cm at rear and 0cm around the sides and the front
Armour: 2mm Hardox underneath 2mm polycarbonate.
Wheels: 2x inner Go-Cart wheels that come out at the top, so that Deep Impact 2 can run inverted.
    Power: 2x Lynch 130s at 24 volts
Weapons: The weapons are the rear twin mounted carbon tipped vertical discs each spinning vertically like Nightmare, running at 1500rpm, and each machined from an extremely high density alloy that get all all their inertia and weight into the outer of the discs. Both discs get up to full speed in about 2.5 seconds.
NOTES: When DI2 is right way up, the discs spin vertically and are designed to flip opponents as well as damage. When DI2 is inverted the discs spin downwards and although damaging, are not as effective.
    SRIMECH: Invertible
STRENGTHS: Powerful discs, good driving and speed.
WEAKNESSES: Weapon is not as effective when inverted.

    2. El Persistance

SHAPE- compact invertible box shape with a front wedge (similar to Storm 2)
    COLOUR- Black with red skirts
    WEIGHT- 100kg
    DIMENSIONS- 79 x 72 x 16cm
    SPEED- about 16mph
    TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm all around due to skirts.
ARMOUR- 3mm Grade 5 titanium top and bottom, 3mm Hardox armour at sides, front and back.
    WHEELS- inside robot, 6WD
    POWER- 1 X 36v MagMotor
WEAPONS- After 2 tournys as a basic rambot, El Persistance is now equiped with a Wedge of Doom style linear actuated lifting arm that can lift up to 200kg and has two steel prongs attached at the end. The arm is designed to slide under opponents, lift them up till their wheels, tracks or legs no longer touch the ground, and then slam them into the arena walls with the full 20HP drive. The lifter is not designed to self right the robot.
    SRIMECH- invertible
NOTES- When inverted it has Srimechs are still for wimps! written on the bottom.
STRENGTHS- Pushing power and impenetrable armour
WEAKNESSES- High ground clearance when inverted and lifter is not able to work when inverted.

    3.Disco Dancer 2.5

SHAPE: Low invertible box with pointed front (similar to Fluffy)
    COLOUR: Flourecent greeen
    WEIGHT: 100kg
    DIMENSIONS: 100 x 70 x 25cm
    SPEED: 25mph
    TURNING CIRCLE: 0
    GROUND CLEARANCE: 2mm all around
ARMOUR: After Disco Dancers weak polycarbonate and Tangos appalingly rubbish hardox, I have decided to clad DD 2.5 in 3mm titanium.
    WHEELS: 2 inner Go-Cart wheels
    POWER: 2 X Sinclair C5 motors
WEAPONS: After being removed for PTT4 the twin Splinter style grabbing arms have been re-attached. The robots main weapon though is still the front mounted 20kg horizontal disc spinning at 2500rpm and taking 2.5 seconds to fully spin up.
    SRIMECH: Invertible
Notes: Disc teeth painted bright red.
STRENGTHS: Powerful disc, manouverable and more reliable.
WEAKNESSES: Unreliable armour in the past

4.Pink Panther (formely Big Bad and Pink 4.6)

    SHAPE- Low wedge
    COLOUR- Pink (of course)
    WEIGHT- 110kg
    DIMENSIONS- H: 37 X L: 100 X W: 97
    SPEED- 12mph
    TURNING CIRCLE- 0mm
GROUND CLEARANCE- 0mm at front 0mm at sides and rear due to quad sprung skirts so shouldnt come up it has12 torsion points to keep the skirts down. 15mm with out the skirts
ARMOUR- 5 mm polycarbonate over 3mm grade 5 titanium
    WHEELS- has 2 inner tracks
    POWER- 2 x S28 Magmotors on 24v.
WEAPONS- It has interchangeable weapons which consist of:
    1. 2 X dominator 2 like axes, 1 on the left side one on the right the axe head can be changed for a little wedge so it acts like 2 flippers
    2. The other interchangeable axe is like terrorhurtzs but is only one way
    3. A 10kg vertical disc spinning at 2000rpm
    4. A Wedge of Doom style lifting arm that can lift 100kg.
SRIMECH- the axes or flippers can right the robot helped by a curved back if they are all ready fired or in flipper mode and with the disc it has a rear roll bar type thing that is supported underneath so shouldnt bend and with the lifting arm will self-right in about 4 seconds.
    STRENGTHS- Interchangeable weapons
WEAKNESSES- easy to push from sides

    5. Snakebite Evolution

    Weight: 96kg
Shape: A high wedge, painted to look like a snakes head, with screws tapped into sides.
Colour: Black with snakehead design being bright green.
    Dimensions: 60 x 40 x 30
    Speed: 10mph
Ground Clearance: 0 at front, 3mm at sides, 0 at rear due to skirt, 4mm behind skirt
    Armour: 3mm titanium
Wheels: 2 inner, coming out of the top so the robot can run inverted.
    Power: 24V battery and motors
Weapon: A powerful spinning blade, like MOEs but spinning vertically, at the rear of the robot.
Srimech: The robot can run upside down, and the rear is high enough for the blade to fit into it, so it can still be used upside down. It has two skirts, one at the bottom of the rear and one at the top, which comes into action when the robot is flipped. Screws in sides mean it cant rest there.
NOTES: Bought off Virtual Ebay for £405. Battle tacics are to get the wedge under skirtless opponents and push them into arena obstacles. Use the blade to cause damage to opponents - the skirts at the rear repel any flippers. It just has to turn to keep any flippers away from the sides
    STRENGTHS: Powerful and deadly weapon
    WEAKNESSES: Untested

6.Ankle Biter The Second (formely Ankle Biter)
    Shape: Low invertible box
    Motivation: 4 inner wheels
Colourr: Black with purple highlights around the edges
    Speed: 15MPH
    Weight: 100kg
    Height: 25mm
    Length: 80mm
    Width: 60mm
Weapon: The weapon is a 10000rpm 24kg spinning drum powered by a B42-500 Magmotor on 48v. The spinning drum is gears 2.4:1 and has a spin up time of less than 4 seconds. The weapon has a unique feature of being able to be retracted within the body to allow it to spin up to full speed with out being stalled. The weapon is retracted and extended within 0.5 second using a hi-speed linear actuator which is strong enough to withstand the energy of the drum plus more. The Drum generates 132631.3joules of energy(calculations done on the Team Cosmos Kinetic Energy Calculator) at full speed and will easily flip robots, skirts and debris up off the floor during impacts.
Drive: The drive is a 4WD system using 4 Volcalon rubber wheels and using two C40-500 Magmotors. Not the most powerful pushing system, but will give it enough to power to be mobile and to get out the road of attacks.
Batteries: 48v 9amp worth of NiCD cells
    Armour: 10mm Grade 5 Titanium
Notes: This is my pride and joy. This is hopefully the next MDU in the making!
    Strengths: Devastating weapon
    Weaknesses: Untested

Also I will enter Ankle Biter The Second in the Challenge Belt and I will enter El Persistance and Biohazard in the Football.

    Heres Danny!

    Name: Manic Monsoon
    Weight: 100kg
    Armour: 5mm Hardox all over.
    Speed: Roughly 28mph
Shape: Box wedge with side skirts and rounded back.
Weapon 1: A linear actuator powered lifter running by a 4 bar system at 24v. This can lift 200kg easily.
Weapon 2: A small strip of Grade 5 Titanium on the front wedge, which gives 0mm ground clearance.
Strengths: Powerful drive and good strong weapon
Weaknesses: A bit too fast and hard to control when at full speed.
Ground Clearance: 0mm on front and sides, 1cm at back.
Srimech: Invertible, but can self right using the lifter if wanted to.
Notes: The robot is powered by 2 B42-500 MagMotors running at 60v. This gives Monsoon approx 60HP! The robot has a total of 6 wheels, 3 on each side. Each side is linked together by a set of heavy duty belts, giving 0m turning circle and the manouverability of a 2 wheeled bot, and each wheel is coated in Vulcalon. The front wedge is angled at 42.5 degrees, meaning that it is not too steep nor too shallow. The lifting arm is powered by a S28-150 MagMotor, and is made from 7075 Aluminium. The lifter itself can lift a total of 200kg, and can self right the robot if needs be. The side skirts are made from 4mm Titanium and are hinged.

    Name: Dallas
    Weight: 100kg
    Armour: 7mm Titanium Vanadium alloy
    Speed: 18mph
Shape: Teardrop shaped, with the point on the front and curve at the back.
Weapon 1: Front horizontal flywheel powered by 2 x 3120 Husqvarna chainsaws.
Strengths: Really strong armour and destructive weaponry.
    Weaknesses: Poor pushing power.
    Ground Clearance: 5mm all around.
    Srimech: Invertible
Notes: The robot is powered by 2 S28-300 MagMotors running at 24v. This gives roughly 18mph top speeds. The main weapon is a front horizontal flywheel, which is powered by 2 3120 Husqvarna chainsaws. They chainsaws are on a 4:1 reduction, which means the flywheel can spin at 2687.5RPM. The flywheel itself is modelled on Shell Shocks axe from Series 3 of Robot Wars, and weighs a total of 18.5kg. According to Team Cosmics Kinetic Energy Calculator, it can produce roughly 11kJ per hit. This, combined with superb manouverability and strong armouring, should make Dallas a hard bot to crack.

    Name: Dervish //
    Weight: 100kg
Armour: 10mm Aluminium Boron Carbite, with 5mm Lexiguard inside that to protect electronics.
    Speed: 18mph
    Shape: Invertible cylinder, like Barberous
Weapon 1: Spinning body which spins upwards, so it can flip its opponents.
Strengths: Powerful weaponry and very manouverable
    Weaknesses: Exposed wheels.
    Ground Clearance: 7mm all around
    Srimech: Invertible
Notes: The robot is powered by 2 S28-150 MagMotors, giving the robot a top speed of 18mph. Both wheels are based around Stinger, but have Vulcalore trims to aid in traction. The spinning body is made from 10mm Aluminium Boron Carbite, with 5mm Lexiguard inside that. The spinning body has Carbon tipped blades and Grade 5 Titanium blades attached all over it, so it can destroy all matters of armour. The body itself is powered by 2 LEM 130s running at 36v. This means the drum spins at approx 2500RPM. This should be enough power to destroy a robot in a matter of seconds.

Name: Wheely Pure Evil 2 (Thanks to Aaron for flipper rams and armour)
    Weight: 100kg
Armour: 6mm Aluminium Boron Carbite (slightly heavier than Aluminium, but harder than Tungsten)
    Speed: 18mph
    Shape: Low invertible wedge
Weapon 1: Top hinged flipper powered by a 80mm pneumatic ram, working at 1000psi fixed on top of the robot. At the bottom of the flipper there is a 5mm Grade 5 Titanium wedge extender, designed to get under any ground clearance.
Weapon 2: Top hinged flipper powered by a 80mm pneumatic ram, working at 1000psi fixed on the underside of the robot.
Strengths: Powerful weaponry and tough amrour.
Weaknesses: Exposed wheels on top and limited CO2 on board.
Ground Clearance: 1cm at the back, 0mm on sides due to side skirts and 0mm at front due to flipping plate.
    Srimech: Invertible.
Notes: The robot is powered by 2 S28-400 MagMotors running at 24v, which give 18mph top speed. The flippers are made from 4mm Aluminium Boron Carbite, and powered by 80mm pneumatic rams working at 1000psi due to Nitrogen. Each flipper can flip roughly 2500kg each. However, due to the flipper set up, the robot can flip roughly 5000kg! The robot has hinged side skirts, to stop robot getting underneath. The skirts are made from 3mm Aluminium Boron Carbite, and are hinged so they run upside down. The flippers can be fired at the same time, or independantly.

    Name: Sonic Boom
    Weight: 100kg
Armour: 1cm thick Hardox wheel hubs, 5mm Hardox axe head and 5mm thick axe pole. The axle joining the 2 wheels is made from 6mm Titanium and Vanadium alloy.
    Speed: 28mph.
Shape: The robot is an axlebot based around Stinger.
Weapon 1: A momentum powered axe, which can come down with 800kgs of force.
Strengths: Hard to grab hold off and very tough armour. Great manouverability.
    Weaknesses: Poor pushing power.
    Ground Clearance: 10mm.
    Srimech: The robot is invertible.
Notes: The robot is powered by 2 LEM 130s, giving 28mph top speeds. The wheels are made from aircraft grade Aluminium, with Hardox wheel hubs and thick rubber treads. All the electronics, batteries and wiring are hidden inside the wheels. The 1cm thick wheel hubs should mean that nothing can damage the innards of Sonic Boom. To save weight on the robot, the wheels are only 20cm high, but are also 20cm wide, increasing traction on the arena floor. The axe head is modelled on Stingers axe from series 4 of Robot Wars, but is a lot tougher due to the 50cm, 5mm Hardox axe pole and 5mm Hardox axe head. The axe is momentum powered, meaning that when the robot stops moving from a charge, the axe swings over head and hits what ever is in front of it. This method of weaponry is not accurate most of the time, but when it does hit, it can cause a lot of damage. The 10mm ground clearance all over the robot should stop it getting stuck on arena obstacles.

    Name: Squish
    Weight: 100kg
    Armour: 6mm Grade 5 Titanium
    Speed: 20mph
    Shape: Low wedge
Weapon 1: A very powerful hydraulic crusher, with 14 tonnes of pressure at the tip.
Strengths: Very powerful crusher and strong armour. Good pushing power and good speed.
    Weaknesses: Slow srimech.
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to wrinkler device. 5mm at sides and 1cm at back.
Srimech: It uses a set of Razer style wings.
Notes: The robot is powered by 2 LEM130 Lynch motors running at 36v, giving 20mph top speed and pushing power equivilent to 18HP. The robot has 6 inner Vulcalore wheels, which give tremendous traction. The crusher itself is made from 4mm Hardox, with 300 weight reducing holes. It is powered by a M-Mac M40 Hydraulic Actuator running at 12v, which can give 14 tonnes of pressure. The actuator has already been used in Robotic Combat, so this robot is realistic. The tip of the crusher is coated in carbon, so it can rip through Titanium easily.

    Name: RingMaster
    Weight: 100kg
Armour: 5mm Grade 5 Titanium hoop, 6mm LexiGuard top and bottom.
    Speed: 20mph.
    Shape: Invertible cyclinder ala Gyrobot
Weapon 1: A large 2m diameter spinning hoop weighing a total of ~30kg. It has 8 large steel teeth covering it designed to cause damage.
Strengths: 360 degree offense and defense. Very durable and nippy.
Weaknesses: Exposed wheels on top and very boring
    Ground Clearance: 5mm all over.
    Srimech: Invertible
Notes: The robot is powered by 2 LEM130 Lynch Motors running at 36v, giving 20mph top speed and roughly 18HP. The robot uses Vulcalore wheels to gain extra traction on the arena floor, so if the spinner stops, the robot can act as a powerful pusher. The spinner is powered by a LEM130 motor at 36v, and spins the spinner at a safe 1000RPM. This means the robot can hit with a force of 150Kj. So the robot does not self destruct on impact with its opponent, the chassis has been dramatically strengthened by using lots of Ti/V alloy triangles. In total, the chassis weighs 18kg. Also, the electronics, batteries and motors inside the robot have been braced and covered in compound rubber, designed to absorb the shocks when hitting an opponent.

My real robot will be: Mr Nasty!

    Side Events

Ill assume that Manic Monsoon will be in the All Stars *kisses Bronze medal *.

My 2 robots that will be in the annihilator will be Squish and Sonic Boom.

My Challenge Belt robot will be RingMaster.

I will get back to you in the football contest, so can you save me a place? Thanks
