    Its back,
Following the success of our Feather Weight Smash 2003 on August the 9th, the event will be going ahead again in 2004 on the 6th March. New location but still central of the UK - Halesowen near Birmingham. Bit further north from the last venue.

Same arena setup again, arena hazards will be back, few twists in the competition setup - same sort of prizes. Full on combat plus white board. And we now have Seeds for 2004s event!

More info about the event going up on the web site soon - Sign up page will open late December.

If you didnt make it to the August 2003 FWS, write up of the event can be found at http://www.featherweights.org/fwsmash_2003.htmhttp://www.featherweights.org/fwsmash_2003.htm to show you what your letting yourself in for.

    Happy Roboteering

    Yep - its back.
We did it on August 9th 2003 - which went off with a bang, and ended with good comments. Its time to do it all over again now - and will improve upon what success we have already created.

    Sign up page opens soon,
Sadly we are putting a LIMIT on robots that can come, due to health and safety reasons of the venue. Its a DIFFERENT venue and its a bit bigger. The limit is GREATER than the amount of Feathers that turned up to our 2003 event, but that was due to a few pulling out, and or some teams didn€™t sign up due to holidays in the summer holiday period. So theres a good chance this one could be full soon.

PS - Feather Weights AND Ant Weights welcome - we will be having a few Heavy Weights on display once again. Main competition for Feathers and Ants to win prizes again like last time. Different format this time also - some things with a twist to liven it all up a bit more.

  7. Will full vortex style spinners be allowed in the small roaming robots arena?
    Cheers, Ewan
(still happy after finding a pillar drill under the christmas tree )

IF they are built safely like vortex - then yes Ewan.
A bar or big flywheel mounted onto a 10mm motor shaft with a M6 bolt and nut holding it on - is not safe mate. I would advise you to maybe send pictures of your construction of ur spinner to us or roaming robots before you turn up and get a dissapoiting Un safe stamp on your tech sheet.
Yes they will allow it at Robot wars, because they have spent alot of money on a near perfect safe arena, so they dont care what happens in the arena up to a point.

Ah, but I got bored with that (well... not actually bored, more like the magnets in the motor shattered when I can up against a sheet of 6mm steel). Seeing as its christmas (and I got a pillar drill ) Im now going to go into vortex quality robots. Ive just got myself a new sponsor in the form of Roplas, who are providing me with 8 and 10mm polycarbonate and a few hundred pounds...
Thats going on a proper bot (S28 mag powered spinner, waterjet cut 4kg disc). So is vortex coming, Im sure they wouldnt mind fighting their clone )

Vortex is now retired. Horizon (new one) will be at Feather Weight Smash 2004.
And whats the point in making a clone. Yes people pintch ideas - but a clone, hmmm.

God knows where ur getting all these sponcors from.
