Hi all, I have been setting out a Beetle weight robot design and stuck on which drive motors to use for each wheel. The design is a typical two wheel driven robot. Any suggestions or experiences will be welcomed.

Shu! uses a couple of Como 918D motors (https://www.technobotsonline.com/918...otor-15-1.html) which move it quite happily. However, if I was going to build it again, I might think Pololu 37D motors would be better for the extra grunt (https://www.technobotsonline.com/pol...red-motor.html).

Hey Michael, unfortunately running on 3" wheels that only gives me a theoretical 4mph max speed. Was hoping to achieve at least twice that speed. The tyre configuration should give me the traction so I can ramp up speed fast with minimum slippage. Maybe I am aiming to high, not sure.

On the little wheels I've got, Shu! moves at a relatively steady pace as below (5 minutes, 27 seconds into the video):

There are some that are much quicker but for my purposes, the Como motors work rather well, if a little underpowered.

Typical beetleweight drive motors are 1000rpm 25mm gearmotors found all over eBay - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-12V-1...cAAOSwS5NZgCfQ though I recommend shopping around to try and find the best deal. Also, the plastic-backed ones seen there appear to have more power than the metal backed variants.
