Thread: GR02 replacements (drive motors)

  1. #1
    Hi all,

I'm putting together some bits to make a feather, and noticed that the Gimson GR02s are now discontinued. For drive motors, what's the popular equivalent? Speed 900s?

I've got some drill motors on order (thanks Archie!) but wondered about the GR02s for potential future upgrade, in case the drill motors don't deliver the grunt

Look at Ranglebox motors and gearboxes, from what i've seen they're just about the best option ATM

    Speed 900's ain't available anymore.

If you want commercial available drives to go, you have the Ranglebox Saturns in the UK.

For others, you are looking to the US.

But don't worry, normal batterydrill motors/gearboxes with some work do the job fine in feathers.

The GR02 was just a drill motor and gearbox repackaged into an easy to mount solution. Tempted to manufacture the same end plates myself for sale from 3D printed nylon as an easy to swap out solution.

For a hub to take an RC wheel. M10 D3 nut, drill it out to 12mm, add as much M3 set screws as you like. And use 2 of the set screws in line to fit in the keyway.

You'll need to drill a hole in the shaft, to fit a locking bolt or nut.
