27th December 2011 - Robots Live - Snibston Discovery Park

Robot Live are returning to our roots for a return to Snibston Discovery Park in Coalville, Leicester (about 4miles from our Whitwick venue). Our first public event was held here back in 2003, we will be running a similar event again. There will be fighting robots on display, antweight competition, our pay to drive system and mechanoids ect. We dont have many events like this anymore, where you can have a chat and a chance to show off any robot related christmas presents!

In 2003 we had 2000 people over the day who visited, and was attended by many robots including; Chaos 2, Tornado, S3, Pussycat, Bulldog Breed, Storm 2, Mute and it was the first appearance of Big Nipper where we all stood around saying That will never work!, how wrong we were!

Times: Are to be confirmed but probably 10am-4pm.

Venue: Snibston Discovery Park, Ashby Road, Coalville, Leicestershire, LE67 3LN

We are mainly looking for robots for static display and any other robot related stuff you might have for show. Interactive robots (mechanoids, daleks ect can drive around the museum). We should be able to get you free access into the museum as well. Antweights will be fighting, I understand they are running a Team Championships, so best check out the Antweight forum for more info on that.

i would like to bring K9 (baby pending!!) which is due 4th jan, so obviously i mite pull out of attending at the last minute

what type of floor is it i can drive k9 on? is it smooth or carpet do you know. thanks,

The floor is carpet (short pile, like carpet tiles). Time are 10am 'till 5pm, so if you can arrive anytime before 10am. If you have any build pictures, videos etc that can be with your robots for people to look at that would be great as well. Don't see a problem with getting you free entry into the museum itself. I'll put a post up later with more information.

hey just to be clear, there won't be any heavies/feathers running? just for display and only ants are fighting

Abit more info;

The antweight will be upstairs on the balcony, and the statics/P2Ds will be in the conference rooms. I believe the ants are running a team champs and normal competitions (can all antweights that are fighting sign up on the RW101 forum).

The event is free entry for the public and open 10am-5pm. There is a cafe in the museum, but its 'abit dear'.

The museum is abit harder to find than before, as they've built a huge housing estate infront of it, so keep and eye out for the brown tourist attraction signs.

Can those that are intending on coming please email or post on here that they are, that haven't already done so.

Please bring anything else you have such as banners, pictures, fact sheets ect.
