No, I don't think that any robots use sticky tyres - they would pick up dirt very quickly. Some arenas e.g. BattleBots do use "traction paint" though, which should increase grip, although this year...

Robo Challenge had their arena setup in Birmingham yesterday for filming for a feature for Channel 5's The Gadget Show. A few feathers were there that weren't involved in the filming.

    Re: A123 CELLS

It's OK, as they shoudn't get that hot. Only use a very small amount, to avoid adding too much weight.
Alternatives (cold-setting rubber-like adhesives) are B&Q Rubber Glue, Bison Liquid Sole or...

Where did you see the 1.5m max length rule?
Can't see anything like that in the Entry Form PDF.
  18. Re: Robo Challenge Tag Team Champs & Power Tool Drag racing!

I really don't think a few hundred quid from entry fees is even going to start to cover the costs of putting on an event like this.
  19. Re: Robo Challenge Tag Team Champs & Power Tool Drag racing!

Looking good. Presumably you'll have something (skids/runners/wires) outside the skateboard wheels to keep them central in the channel? Otherwise it will just go off to one side and probably jump out...
  20. Re: Robo Challenge Tag Team Champs & Power Tool Drag racing!

One circular saw blade each side works fine, even the thin ones designed for cordless circular saws, as long as you have most of the weight on them.
And if you have most of the weight on them, you...

No, those are 1.25mm pitch which is very small.
Battery connectors are usually 2.54mm (0.1) pitch. Or maybe 2mm.

    2) 0 Nm @ 4900 rpm.

Stall torque (and current) and peak (no load) RPM tell the whole story of the performance characteristics of PM DC motors.
The torque output of, and the current drawn by, the motor vary linearly...
