Robots Rule - The website all about Robotic Combat

The Robots

This page gives you information on some of the robot warriors out there. Some of these robots have featured in Robot Wars and have now retired. Others have been in both Robot Wars and now take part in many live events and in the open circuit. These events are organised by the FRA, an organisation containing roboteers and event organisers.

Chaos 2

Chaos 2

The Chaos 2 pullback toy.

Series 3 and 4 champion. It has that awesome CO2 flipper which hardly anything can beat. It can flip robots over and even out of the arena. I have lost count of how many times they have flipped a robot out of the arena! Once they have done that, they go and take on the house robots! So far, they have managed to flip over Matilda, Shunt and Sergeant Bash who they nearly got out of the arena. It was built in 6 months for £250.

This robot has a flipping arm powered by a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher. It cost £2000 to build and it was built in 3 months. Its top speed is 12 mph. Gemini

Got to mention this robot because it was the first clusterbot in Robot Wars. This means that they go into the arena as one robot and then they can split into two. Each robot has a fantastic flipper which can really make other robots fly. If one robot is flipped over, the other can flip it back the right way up again which is a good advantage but rules state that if one of the clusterbots is immobilised, then both are out which is a big disadvantage.

Hypno-Disc

Hypno-Disc

The Hypno-Disc pullback replica toy.

That terrifying disc spinning at over 750 rpm can not only scratch robots but pull their whole armour off. Then they go in and take out all the batteries and everything from the inside! They were very close to winning series 4 but Pussycat took out their wheel so they were just sitting their and then Shunt put its axe into the disc stopping that from working. Oh dear but anyway, it is a superb, destructive robot capable of spinning many robots into hundreds of tiny pieces. It has a top speed of 10 mph and it is made out of an aluminium and mild steel shell with custom made wheels. You have to spin to win!

Excellent sports but they don't do very well in the warzone. However, they do very well with their funny jokes and their songs! They wear black and more black with black sunglasses. The robot is always out of control. In the second wars, they drove straight into the pit and in series 3 they never got moving! It is a tracked robot and it is made of aluminium. It has a top speed of 15 mph. You have got to love their songs: "Shout out loud, make lots of noise, there's damage to be done by the plunderbird boys. Gonna stamp on you, gonna hit you hard. Excellent new comer to Robot Wars. They automatically qualified for the Seventh Wars when they won the new blood tournament in Robot Wars Extreme so they didn't have to go through qualifying. Tornado. They were winners of the Sixth Wars.

At first it was an extremely under estimated machine but now it is an incredibly popular fighting battling robot. Typhoon

A big new comer to Robot Wars and one definitely to watch out for in the future. Not only have they entered the main UK championships, but they have entered robots (from the Typhoon genre) into light weight and middle weight competitions with Typhoon Twins (a cluster bot consisting of Typhoon Lightning and Typhoon Thunder) and the big daddy, Typhoon. This robot can sure whip up a big storm in a battle completely trashing their opponent with their spinning robot/weapon which spins at just over 100 mph. Huge chunks of armour plating can be ripped off from their opponent and massive damage can be caused. Winners of the Seventh Wars.

Wheely Big Cheese

They are a wheely good robot with that fantastic flipper of theirs. Apparently, this flipper can lift up 1 tonne (so they say). It performed well in series 4 but Matilda took off one of its wheels which prevented it from going any further. They failed to flip over Sir K even though he drove right over them!

X-Terminator

X-Terminator

X-Terminator, the pullback replica toy. Their axe weapon is clearly visible. This is what the robot looked like before the Seventh Wars.

X-Terminator can exterminate their opponent by using their fierce spinning disc weapon to cause maximum destruction. The vertical spinning disc can also spin so fast that it is possible to 'spin' a robot right out of the arena and they have achieved this before. It has an aluminium shell.

Team Marlon Pritchard, Simon Baldwin
Weight 100kg
Height 70cm
Length 110cm
Width 82cm
Speed 18mph
Weapons Vertical spinning disc
Armour Aluminium
Weakness Slow at self righting as their self righting mechanism isn't very effective.
