UK Robotic Games
We are disappointed that the BBC will no longer be showing Technogames. It has left a number of schools and clubs without a focus for their many technology projects. As a group, a number of roboteers have decided to do something to improve the situation and give students and teachers the chance to take part in a new and exciting venture - UK Robotic Games.
The events will take place in the spring and summer of 2005. We are dedicated to this project and whilst is not dependant on TV coverage, naturally this aspect will be pursued. UK Robotic Games is not set up to make profits for the individuals involved. Any profits made will be used to support the schools during the build process, or used to make the events a more exciting and enjoyable experience for the schools. The games will also be open to individual as well as educational establishments.
The group will be seeking sponsorship from commerce, industry and government. The games will be open to individuals as well as educational establishments.
Further details can be found at http://www.ukroboticgames.orgwww.ukroboticgames.org
Wish us luck!
The group is: Ian Lockhart, John Findley, John Frizell, Paul Cooper, Stuart Barnwell and Ian Swann.

Try talking to these people. http://www.tep.org.uk/index2.htmlhttp://www.tep.org.uk/index2.html
They first got mentorn to do the first technogames and would probably help out again. You can mention to them that I suggested you contact them They send a newsletter out to every school in the land and your info could go in it. Im doing an article on robots for their Nov 2004 issue so Ill give you a mention/link if you want.

UK Robotic Games
Nope - Nothing to do with me!
Sounds like a great idea, we had several projects planned for Technogames 04 so at least now well have somewhere to compete with them .... just not convinced about the name.
I hope it doesn€™t cause too much confusion wingdings>

Robots cannot be maintained in any form in between contests
Thats taken from the RC Sumo rules. Does that mean that i Cannot Charge My Batteries between bouts?

UK Robotic Games
Ian, can you address your UKRG technical query on RC Sumo to: support@ukroboticgames.org please.
Whilst members of UKRG read this thread, our preference is to and do respond on a one to one basis rather than post here.We do appreciate the general posts of support.

Mike, that looks superb! Im sure it will fight as good as it looks and in time for the first boxing exhibition bouts at the UK Robotic Games show, NEC on 18-21 November then. We shall make sure we take some video footage of it in action.
We are still taking applications for the 2005 UK Robotic Games (closing date end of Nov) and entries for boxers are very welcome.

Mike,
Its brilliant! I spoke to the organiser at the NEC today and they cant wait to see it. Do you plan to put gloves on it?
Im buying a bell this week to hang at the side of the arena.........Hows the other one coming on?
Its a pity we couldnt use your head on it...it would be much scarier then!! (see you at Kings Lynn...Ill be the one hiding in the corner waiting to get slapped)

UK Robotic Games
Ian, oh boy, are you going to get so slapped. In fact slapped sillier that you are already.
Yes, it will have boxing gloves on. Pual Cooper is kindly donating a pair.
The other one is already finished however Simon has no decided to build another head for his.
I use it at 20 psi and event at that pressure its powerful. At 100psi ( not had the courage to wind it up to 10 bar (150 psi)) its awesome!!!!!
Terry, its a robot designed along the line of Technogames for boxing. It has correct moving arms and is a rough copy of a kneeling human.
This one is named Nemisis Simons is called K.O.
They are cheap, simple and easy to make. They are not powerbots nor should they punch too hard. Just a good fun machine.
