OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
Melee 1
Metallis never got going as whatever its srimech was... Didnt work. Ming Dienasty also never got going at the start, which probaby explains why the judges decided to get rid of it. Drills can be effective weapons, just not the way weve seen them used thus far.
Melee 2
Megahurts LT was great... A comedy theme built into a fully working robot... Shame it broke down Nice to see Revolution back and much improved. I was expecting the combine harvester to reutn, but thankfully it didnt St aggro was interesting. A bit like WBC would be if it was a lot smaller. The Scrapper... Never saw what it could do. Good fight.
Crusher Crunch Up
I thought this fight was extremely boring. A couple of decent attacks, and just about everyone was broken at the end. Mantis might have won, but they did so by simply outlasting the others. At least I dont remember it crunching anything.
St Aggro vs Scraptosaur
Scraptosaur was well on top for most of the fight. St. Aggro couldnt get under, and was being flipped every which way but lose. But the problem was the didnt need to self right, so when Scraptosaur ran out of gas, St Aggro still had plenty left, and just needed one attack. One attack they managed to get, and so they won.
Revolution vs Ceros
Gotta hate them removable links. What looked like being a good ight in the making was ruined because of one. Still, there was some nice house robot attacking which almost made up for it Mentorn, if youre reading, show more house robot attacking!
St Aggro vs Ceros
This looked like being over quickly when Ceros couldnt self right, but thankfully Refbot intervened in agood way for once, and it soon picked up. Both robots took turns at being on top, and St Aggro looked dead and buried when Matilda broke its wheel. Still Ceros was propped up and their flipped seemed broken/exausted so St Aggro won. Fight of the night for me.
St Aggro did look very good... Still, according to Tom Brisbournes wall chart theyve got X-Terminator next. I think those wheels will be a problem

These titles are getting worse and worse :proud:
It was a good heat, Ming DieNasty was pants. Did anyone noticed that St Aggro looks a lot like wheely big cheese?
Better draw for the crushers thing
Razer Vs Tiberous 3 Vs Ming 3.

OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
Pity Kan Opener wasnt in the crusher thing
Tom

OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
I was thinking that tom as i was watching it
i dont think ming 3 could stay with razor and tiberous.
as ming ever been a crusher i know it had one but did it ever use it. And the new Dienasty looks to me as they have gone back to s4 with the drill

OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
ming have two robots in (Dienasty and Zorro). They are both based on the Robots R Us Kit robots, i think the main reason for them entering was to get exposure for the robots (to help sales!).
I dont think its right that they were given a seeding, there are alot better robots that deserve it. They should have been just given one special places in the series.
-
OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
Seeds seem to be given to teams, not robots, baed on how far they get in previous competitions. Im ok with this as (generally) a successful team will produce a decent new machine, and, well, if they produce a turkey they lose their seeding quite, quite quickly.
-
OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
Cant see that perfomance doing sales any good.
It would in my opinion that they should have made a bot that would be competative to boost sales.
just like rally cars it is like a shop window

OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
I have to admit I suspect they were less than pleased with the machines TV debuet. But its probably given them what they needed - As seen on TV.
Makes you wonder, were not allowed to enter robots that look like commercial products (ie you couldnt get sponsorship by Sony and enter a robot that looked like a PS2). What happens when the robot design itself is the commercial product..... wheres the difference ?
One to mull over perhaps...

OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
There is a company called RobotsRus, that I came across at the Wrexham Wrumble earlier this year.I picked up a leaflet. They make robot kits (total kit for £1825), and can be contacted on sales@robotsrus.co.uk.

Or just have look at http://www.robotsrus.co.ukwww.robotsrus.co.uk - they look quite good, could be a good option if you have the cash but not the mechanical ability to build a heavyweight.
Like the thread title Frank - very l33t :)

OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
ah i see.
Thanks to Jeremys intel, I just visited the web site, and in all honesty, I do think its something that has a shot at being successfull. But these machines are way underpowered for this level of combat.
-
OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
I think there not intended to fight at the Robot Wars level of combat as you can clearly see more of fighting each other and fun events.
Is it me or is there a very strong essence of Razer team all over that site? are they or have they been involved in it or is it just me?

OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
I belive Razer use or used the RobotsRUs speed contoller, the Dogz Bollox so theres one link.

OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
I guess youre right Chris, but im also pretty sure people will be showing up with their raptors to qualify for series 8, if thats going to be taped.
-
OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
The robotsareus bots are intended for theme parks. Where kids can have ago at robot combat. So parts and battry packs etc can be swopped in by the park engineering staff. I think that its a great idea.
-
OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
I do think it has potential. In its own class it looks like a good robot anyway. Perfect example of the kiss principle. Easy to maintain, easy to repair, easy to build.
But hey, for 1800+ pounds i could buy a serious robot on Ebay. And i know, ive done it before. :)

OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
Why werent Kan Opener or Big Nipper in that? It wouldve made a nice variety.
-
OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
David, that indeed should have been the line-up for the Crusher Crunch Up, or perhaps Big Nipper, Tough As Nails & Kan Opener could have been in there. It was a TAD disappointing, but there was one fight Id like to have seen, it would be Ceros Vs Toro. That would be interesting. Oi, just a minute, Frank, Ive read Paul Hadsleys review & both look the same. Have you been copying Pauls reviews from the Robot Wars forum?
-
OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
This review is copied from the one I paste on General, which is genereally completed some hours before Paul even gets in from ork and sees Robot Wars. In other words, no.
-
OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
Yes so ceros is a clone of toro however toro is a shw and I think ceros would not stand a chance seeing as it only weighs 100kgs and does not run on nitrogen at a ridiculously high pressure :P might be fun though :)

OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
Sorry to disapoint in the Crusher Crunch Up folks, I guess we were only really invited along to it due to our beak- a bit Razoresque I suppose. In truth we designed Mantis more along the lines of Panic Attack with lifting and throwing being the attack and sadly at the moment have no crushing capability. Still whos going to turn down a second chance to be on telly!!

Razoresque.......
Is that like Pythonesque but with holes in to reduce the weight?
Next youll all be slapping each other with large salmon
:) its the pills you know
-
OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
Sorry Frank. Mind you, Duncan, Mantis (to me of course) looks like a cross between Razer, The Creature & Tetanus 1. Hope you did well in your heat.

forget salmon, it is the good old cod that gets the better thwhack!!!

OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
hello Mike - may I suggest the Grouper
back to the subject and IMO the crusher crunch was a v. big disappointment seeing as the best of that type wasnt there ie Razer
Im off to smother myself in calamine lotion again (itch itch itch) and to hide from incoming artillery for mentioning the R word............

Mike, some well aimed sardines have far more stopping power than cod. Of course, it helps to leave them in the tin...

St Aggro did look very good... Still, according to Tom Brisbournes wall chart theyve got X-Terminator next. I think those wheels will be a problem
Errr... Actually I heard from somebody that it was a machine from one of the other heats that hasnt been shown yet that X-Terminator is against next rather than St.Agro
-
OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
Oh well, I guess well find out sooner or later! :)
-
OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
Actually, never mind, Tom was right.
-
OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
hmm, Ceros was actually very good. However it did remind me of another international robot...
-
OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
Both Ceros and Scraptosaur were very good. Either of them would have been a good heat winner. We were lucky to beat them.
It was a real shame that Matilda did so much damage to Ceros.
St. Agro

OMG THIS REVIEW IS TEH WOOT!!!
Ceros is a favourite of mine. its a cool looking robot and team. (i am in Australia so i am looking at sites only :) ). The international robot is toro that u were thinking of mc_blue. Matilda and all the house bots i despise. they cause lots of damage on your bot after so much work. Someone should tear them up i reckon (let see wheres supernova when u need him) :P.
