Hey, I know this has been asked about a billion times before but I cant find it.
Where can I buy a Trevor Regulator?
also...
how much is it and what are the thread sizes on it?
Thanks Ben

From Trevor
Mightymouse on the forum, but I notice he hasn't been on in a while
He doesn't make them anymore
Any suggestions on the best alternative to a Trevor regulator?
Going FP, or build one yourself.
I don'tthink we have any of the right machinery to build one ourselves and FP is out of budget.Quote:

The only machine needed to build a Trevor Regulator is a lathe. The 2 springs are a slight problem.
Why are they not being built any more? They're clearly in demand!
Several reasons possible.
Loss of machines to make 'm
Loss of interest
Not rewarding enough in the £££ department.
Once my CNC lathe is up and running if someone were to send me the designs and specifications I may consider machining some.
Trev no longer makes them as he no longer has acess to the machinery. I'd suggest checking if anyone on the forum has any kicking about
Wilco. Expect drawings in a week or 2.Quote:

Thought I had seen something about new Trev Regs being made elsewhere and just found it, Trev was saying that Robochallenge were talking about making them.
So is anyone actually making regs or know were to buy them?
What would a brand new Trevor Designed, Maddox build regulator be worth?
well trev sold them for £40 if thats a guide
Then, that explains why nobody else is copying those.
someone needs to makes some!
If you can find a firm that is willing to make thos in quantity, you could end up with a suitable pricetag. But for handbuild, commercialy viable Trevor Reg Copies, I'm afraid £40 ain't enough.
The closest equivalent is a paintball regulator, and those have other pricetags.
Like I said earlier if mario is able to get me some drawings then I will look at making some but I will more than likely be after more than forty quid for time and materials. A custom job will always cost more than a mass produced one
Don't worry. I'll copy/redesign it with your machine capacity in mind. Any preference in kind of threads? Metric or BSP?
PM sent mario
Thanks for the interest lads. It is true I don't have access to the machinery they were actually made on, so until I get my new lathe fully kitted out, it may be some time before any more are made.
Of the last batch, I have kept 2 for myself, but have 2 more I am prepared to sell.
If you want one of them at £40 just mail me, unfortunately I will be driving to France for 2 weeks from Friday midday, so you will have to be quick or have to wait.
I will check my mails later tonight. You can pay by paypal.
Anyone is welcome to the drawings and the springs are easily accessible.
I had quotes for machining them professionally but I would have to sell them at £100 just to break even. It is not a profit led activity.
Trevor
I never realised how famous these things are! I don't even know what they do!
Regulator? Lowers the CO2 pressure from the bottle to the buffer tank/rams.Quote:

Even £40 is barely on the treshold of break even, then you're not counting in the wear and tear on the cutters nor the other small costs assorted with operating a lathe.Quote:

Used to mill them on the spare cnc mill when I had long cuts so cost of tooling was nothing. Price went up to £40 when I had to start buying my own metal
Got a desk job now and the spare mill was sold - I was the only person who could programme it - so if I make any more the price will have to go up again :(
if anyone wants the plans just message me and I will mail you the pdf's when I get back off holiday.
Trevor
3 sold - if I have enough bits for more I will post on here when back off holiday early september
Trev
make that 4 ! I will have one aswell trevor, just let us know when you want payment.
cheers.
have messaged mattsdragons and hard time but have had no reply, can you post here to say that you got the pm's?
Trev
yeah I got it, I have forwarded it to my dad and he will be trying to sort out the payment today.
Trevor If you have enough bits for another, put my name on it.

Would a trev reg be able to regulate to 16 bar?
yeh
Now I just need to find one. :?
Finding it ain't the big deal, paying for it is.
All regulators are now sold.
I may make some more but do not have the kit to do any as yet. I should have the tooling in the next couple of months.
Because I will be making them in the garage the price will have to go up, and will make to order but in batches of 5, so will not start until I have an order for all and possibly a deposit.
New price would be around £60 and there is little money for me in it.
Trev
Trevor
I would buy a regulator if you make them again
regards
Chris
