New pinsor :)
been awhile since i've done anything pinsor related so heres the beginnings of pinsor 2 or pinsor evo or what not.finally made major progress with this, pic below

BILD0002.JPG[/attachment:27pbky8k]
these were originally 2 robots, 1 would have been with all the claw and everything running off 4 drill motors, and the base of the robot was a 6 wheel drive hardox box, but after some thought i know i'd get bored of the box and a 6 wheel drive set up would go well with the claw etc so i combined the 2 robots
8kg at the minute, thats batteries, motors and weapon etc etc, just need to finish the drive timing pullys and get them on and then its litterally ready for a drive about etc
after i've added other odds and sods i'll have about 4kg left for the rest of the armour once its all wired up and everything wana try get some hardox on the front cause i really wana take it to spinner events so we'll see as for a srimech im not sure it'd be worth bothering, because it's gonna be slow to self right so im not sure if it'd be worth it so think ill opt for an extremly low ground clearance
so far its gone through 8mm hdpe like its not even there, poly etc etc even crushes computer towers easily :) 200kg actuator so im not too sure whats at the tip but its quite alot i've spent the last few hours distroying dvd players and sterios with it lol

Re: New pinsor :)
Looks beastly. Thought about swapping the actuator motor for a brushless?
-
Re: New pinsor :)
I didnt know it was possible to acually love a robot but i think i do now!
on only reservations are that you need to be very accurate with the claw and in the world of flippers , with no self-righter, it might be very much 'drive, get flipped and wait to be righted again' fighting
-
Re: New pinsor :)
that's looking awesome! what's the claw made of?
-
Re: New pinsor :)
Could you have an Agent Orange sort of srimech arm pulled by a cable/chain from the claw closing or something like that?
Looks absolutely brilliant though, looking forward to seeing it finished :)
-
Re: New pinsor :)
Something alone the lines of agent orange/chompalot self-righter would be a good idea and wont add too much weight either
-
Re: New pinsor :)
thanks guys, all the bottom section is hardox, and the top claws 10mm ali its not even sharpened or anything yet and it just crushes anything i've had to try so far lol it's made so all the claw section comes out with 4 bolts, so i could mabye 1 day make a few different weapons if i wish.
and don't realy no anything about brushless motors so probabily not, but oneday i may do, see what happens
i just really wana take it to full combat events so i can cause real damage with it. Without sounding mean lol - robots like explosion or heat wave i think it is, all have 8mm hdpe armour or less and this just goes through that like its nothing so it'd look awesome sinking it into another robot, i bought lev 2 ages ago and thats got a 5mm poly top i crushed that and it just went right through and dislodged some old internal parts i just left in there. so could be really good seeing it crush and immobilise a robot
as for a srimech i could do joey, think it's worth mabye having a play around with that idea :), gonna do some wiring today and have a play about with what parts i wana put where

Re: New pinsor :)
Crushed a computer tower today, i did film it but it wants editing and i can't be bothered right now lol
crushed it like it was made out of paper, even went through the power supply pack, which i really didnt expect it to manage

really wana get it driving this weekend if i get time, because it'll be a few weeks untill i can get time to do anything to it again with working away and going to download next weekend :)

Re: New pinsor :)
Nice to see another robot builder going to download :)

Re: New pinsor :)
get it working for g ford would be grat to watch and i guess its a fw

Re: New pinsor :)
whens guildford? and yeah its a feather

Re: New pinsor :)
Or since you're in Edinburgh so often these days, bring it to RL at the Nation Museum of Flight on the 19th :)
-
Re: New pinsor :)
lol jamie, think im done in scotland for a while now :P but they both on the 19th of june? wont be ready for then might be driving but thats it lol really dont wana rush it so i make it all right n that :)
ohh gonna make a rammer shell for it aswell - like it was going to be anyway so i can use it without the claw attached (Y) cut all the hardox for it awhile agoo
-
Re: New pinsor :)
Looking good dude, glad your putting them bulkheads I gave you to use.
-
Re: New pinsor :)
By far one of the most awesome looking FW's to date. It looks awesome, and did a pretty neat job in testing as we see
from that pic.
Im guessing the shell will be Hardox or HDPE

Re: New pinsor :)
thanks man
more done today, got all the pullys attached to each wheel and made a battery holder that attaches to the claw section so that if i wana remove the claw and use it as a hardox box the batteries, speedo and litterally everything comes out the robot in one so it can all be mounted inside the actual robot differently.
as for chassis now thats litterally it, now just a case of waiting for my drive belts to arrive and im sacrificing my day at download on thursday to get them on and wire the robot up so i can give it a drive about lol then im off there friday morning instead :)
pics,
first one showing the seperate claw section- this is quite heavy but not too bad whole thing now is 9.25 kg, so im hoping for hardox on the front and possibly ti sides and i've still gotta cover up the actuator somehow, when i use it as a hardox box the whole top lid, sides and all will be 3.2 hardox or even 4mm because the base weights litterally not even 2 kg
BILD0022.JPG[/attachment:41vt3ru2]
heres one just generally of it all together with speedo and its wires just all loose- i didnt mount that yet cos i wana play around with the arrangement before i finally decide where it goes

Re: New pinsor :)
That looks really really cool, something about six-wheel-drive that just looks bad-ass!
One question though, how are all the wheels connecting together? Usually with 6WD belt/chain drives you have to have two pulleys/sprockets on one wheel so they can all connect together. Because if you connect your powered wheels to your middle wheels, the pulley on the middle wheel will be occupied, leaving no room to put a belt leading to the third wheel. Or are you just running one long belt around it all and putting in some tensioners to increase the engagement between the belt and pulley on the middle wheel?
-
Re: New pinsor :)
thanks jamie, yeah the belts 450mm, and its something like 100mm too long so ill tension it around the middle wheels pully so it engages properly :)
-
Re: New pinsor :)
Coolio :)
Although 450mm sounds far too short for the size of the robot (Drumroll's weapon belt is 380mm and that's for quite a short distance). Unless, is that just half the length of the belt? The distance between your front and back wheels looks to be about 450mm alone.
-
Re: New pinsor :)
ahhhh, yeah ment 650mm lol i wudda had the belts sooner but technobots have been on a half term break thingy so sadly no belts yet :(
-
Re: New pinsor :)
Glad to see lots people going to Download!
-
Re: New pinsor :)
im only there for the sunday since thats all i could afford but im going for the weekend at sonisphere so its all good :)
-
Re: New pinsor :)
have you sorted a self-righter yet or are you just going to hope you dont get flipped?
-
Re: New pinsor :)
hi there
i remember you saying you may have a few spare actuators around, dont suppose you have any high power ones do you?
if i have enough weight, i want to try and go for a bot that used claws to grab, then an axe to do the damage but i dont quite know how i could get that in the weight limit. also, i would probably use a single actuator with duel vertical crushers
its a complex design but one i think would be worth doing
matt
-
Re: New pinsor :)
still need to think about the self righter lol not too sure about how im gonna do that yet
i've got a 75kg actuator but its all plastic thou so be a bit weak and 2 40kg ones which i'd rather hold on to atm as i've got an old robot i may bring back to life that uses that spec
im not sure about sonisphere might go but im pretty much broke after buying stuff for download lol
-
Re: New pinsor :)
How much ground clearence has it got, you tend to need quite a bit in the HW arenas
-
Re: New pinsor :)
do you think my new design may work?
-
Re: New pinsor :)
Any mire news on this since it's a very interesting build too me
-
Re: New pinsor :)
nope its still the same because i havnt had the time lol, im getting made redundant/quitting my job in 2 and a half weeks time thou so im using the time spent job hunting and applying for stuff to also get alot of robot stuff done :)
