scorpion xl
today i bourght a scorpion xl off david weston, and i think i know how everything works, i have read through the manual, and printed it off, but i just wanted to clarify here incase i break it before it even fights. the the little loop with hv writen next to it has been cut, for volteges above 16v, is this corect? i want to run it on 12, can i just re conect the loop?
thanks for reading, harry.

Re: scorpion xl
Yes, just re-connect them when running 12v.

Re: scorpion xl
One option could be to replace the little metal links of the HV jumper with some wires and a switch (or mini removable link type thing) so that you can easily change between low voltage and high voltage operation should you alter your robot power supply or use the Scorpion in a different robot. Saves you having to solder/clip the connection each time.

Re: scorpion xl
hey, i've got another problem wich is really confusing me. when there is power to the speed controler the green light blinks rappidly, first i thought it was just the rx taking a long time to bind but then i saw it had all ready bound, the manual i printed of the robot power website says rc signal lost or pulses out of legal range neither of witch i think is the case. i am using a spec trum dsm2 transmitter and reciver and a 4000mah 12v nimh battery, i have tried it with two different recivers and i get the same result :? :?
thanks, harry

Re: scorpion xl
Have you got a jumper connected across the calibration pins? A rapid flickering green LED indicates that the Scorpion is in calibration mode; you'd need to remove this before you could have any control over the motors.

Much the same controller.
The built in BEC is low powered and the Spektrum reciever sucks a lot of power compared to other makes....Disable the onboard BEC and buy a seperate one....
You could also try with a seperate reciever battery pack ..again remember to disable the XL's onboard BEC.

Re: scorpion xl
Rapidly would suggest to me calibration mode too. Even if its not in calibration mode maybe you need to calibrate it before it will work? Or maybe the calibration pins are connected somehow?
I am having problems too with an XXL (as you've probably seen) and rapid flashing for me only happens when I put it into calibration mode. When it cant find the receiver it seem to be a slower flashing.

Re: scorpion xl
ive put one of my antweight batterys on it now an it seems to work, cheers guys :D

Re: scorpion xl
ok, new problem :?
when everything is all plugged in and wired up nothing seems to happen, the battery is fully charged and it responds with the corect lights but the motors do not move, i am realy stumped :? any suggestions?

Re: scorpion xl
Seperate battery for the receiver?
Signal wire and Black to the XL from the receiver ...NO RED ?
Just in case one motor has developed a short circuit and the XL is instantly current limiting ...a test of your motors by connecting to a battery ...
Plug a servo into the receiver port just to check that your outputting a signal.

Re: scorpion xl
i am using a seperate rx battery anyway but i will try those things, thanks very much :D

Re: scorpion xl
Is anyone still doing XXL conversions?
-
Re: scorpion xl
Robotpower doesn't offer the XXL atm, but I can ask Ilyama if he knows more.

Re: scorpion xl
You had it working, I saw the video on youtube, can you remember what you've done to it since then ?

Re: scorpion xl
i found on the flip channel the black wire had come off, but i didn't use it anyway could this cause the problem?
-
Re: scorpion xl
never mind ive sorted it now

Re: scorpion xl
ummm hope no one minds but what should i do with an exploded nimh cell? ive buggered one off mine:

Re: scorpion xl
How did you end up sorting this Harry? I think mine is now doing the same :?

Re: scorpion xl
what the esc or the battery?
-
Re: scorpion xl
The ESC. I seem to have the same problem you had with the light flashing as if it is in calibration mode when the jumper isn't on.
-
Re: scorpion xl
i found it was i needed a separate rx battery, and that my battery terminaly was a bit loose
-
Re: scorpion xl
Ahh ok, i'm using a separate battery at the moment, it might be a bit dodgy though so i'll check the battery terminals, cheers. I'm guessing you mean the terminal on the ESC?

Re: scorpion xl
Great, will give that a try, cheers :D

Re: scorpion xl
sorry for the rather large bump, i didn't think it warrented another thread.
there seems to be a worrying gap between the motors when i push the stick forwards, one seems to start quicker than the other so i end up going in circles, any ideas whats going wrong?
atm im just giving everthing a charge to see if that helps but it tried it with a couple different batteries.
thanks

Re: scorpion xl
Have you tried recalibrating the ESC to your transmitter?
