A few things wanted
Hi there everyone
I'm after a few things over the next few months so no urgency but it's all needed:
X2 robochallenge 125mm wheels
X2 12v Nimh batteries and charger to go with for motors
X1 18v Nimh battery for a 12v actuator but over volted and charger
X1 30a ESC for actuator
Bec unit (if needed for actuator esc)
12v powerlight
I think that's about it but it's probably not so stuff will be added

Re: A few things wanted
I don't think you'd need a BEC for the ESC, that would only be for the receiver and I think I remember you saying at some point that your drive ESC's had one.

Re: A few things wanted
Hey Matt,
I've mentioned this in my reply to your PM but you shouldn't need a second battery pack to power your actuator. I see that it's a 12V actuator but you're wanting to over-volt it? Is it 12V drill motors you're running too? If so, I'd suggest going for a pair of 9.6V Nimh batteries (with a 'mAh' rating similar to what I mentioned in my reply) that are wired in series to give you an operating voltage of 19.2V. Your drive motors should handle that voltage comfortably - I've never had a problem with this setup - so you'd have a bit of extra speed, as well as extra power coming from your actuator.
If you're running a BEC, you'd only need one and it would connect to your main battery supply and power your receiver. But if your drive ESCs have a BEC then you won't need another one.

Re: A few things wanted
Trouble is my ESC for the drive are only 15a so I was unsure if they could handle the voltage

Re: A few things wanted
These guys are pretty good for batteries, just ordered mine from there on Sunday http://bit.ly/fwZEjP

Re: A few things wanted
Just a quick note, if you're running on 19.2V, you'll want a 24V power light instead of a 12V one. They are one of the components where over-volting isn't recommended. Better to have a slighty under-powered 24V LED than an over-volted 12V LED.

Re: A few things wanted
Ah Ye, 24v power light and I would need a 15a ESC with 25a fuses for the actuator unless a 30a one came for a good price :)

Re: A few things wanted
i think i've still got a suitable resistior lying around so i could probably make a 24v power light if you want

Re: A few things wanted
hi, i've found the components for the 24v power light but my soldering iron is broke i'm afraid
-
Re: A few things wanted
just buy the power light id say as then you get a housing often with a reflective cone around
i think ive offered you the charger i have???
and the battery packs might be best buying new as then you know their history in terms of use i.e none
vapex tech on ebay are the best bet

Updated list:
x1 ESC that is sure to work (my other didn't work)
X1 charger for 9.6v Nimh's
Also, anyone got a spare sheet of 500mm x 500mm x 12mm hdpe and the same size 8mm sheet?
