Looking for a speedo for my featherweight for the UK champs, due to size constraints I'm looking for a Scorpion, the 4QD's I was planning to use just about fit, but nothing else will. Any other similar sized speedos might also do it.
Cheers

id go for rick maas's xl upgraded speedo works great
Would be good if anyone had some to begin with though, I don't fancy having to import them then send them off to be modified, especially not with deadlines looming.
I know I bang on about them all the time but have you looked at the electronize controllers?
I have got a set of electronize 43HVR's too and will be using them when running in 4WD, but it was for 2WD that I was looking at the Scorpion XL for more precise control when running with a spinner. Also space is looking like it could become an issue.
I think my advert will end up being more hopeful than anything else as I see quite a few people are also looking for XL's. I'm not sure what the situation is with Rick Mass' controllers, would I need to have one to upgrade or does he have a supply?
Also, I've noticed you can get a decent discount if you order them in quantities of 2 or more from Robot Power Online if anyone else is looking for any that could be an option. I think they work out at about £63 each?
http://www.robotpower.com/catalog/
you'll probably get hit by tax and have to pay another 30% though.
Even then it would come out at around £80, similar to 2 electronize is it not?
yep :)
I heartily recommend a set of NCC-35s from 4QD combined with the necessary interface unit and associated cabling. That's all relatively compact
Apologies for the complete uselessness of this post :P
It was relatively compact compared to using a small car engine yes. Infact, it was probably similar size now that I think of it
I'll leave this a day or 2 and see if anyone has one they're selling, which I don't think will happen judging by the number of adverts for people looking for them.
If anyone else wants one then pm me or post on here any we will be able to get them a bit cheaper.
i might be interested in that deal you said , dont think the times ive imported robot parts they have added tax on might be wrong
have you emailed rick??
Nice one mate.
I haven't no, I looked at his site for a bit but didn't see contact details. Does he have them to sell or would I have to import them then get them to him?
If you decide to go for a bulk order of XL's, let me know when you're ordering. Thinking about it, having one for either Carcinus or Grond would be good but obviously if you're ordering from the US, it'd need to be placed soon to allow time for the goods to arrive before the champs. So if I've been paid by the time an order gets made (if you have to resort to ordering overseas that is) then I'll chip in for one but if not, then no probs.
im not sure just drop him and email he might keep one or so made up to sell on but then imports replacements to upgrade not sure
alex
No worries Jamie,
That site that says I can get a discount for bulk orders reckon it would take 1-3 weeks to arrive, so I would need to place the order sometime this week, just to be safe. I'll give you a shout when/if i'm ordering and if you're wanting one you can just pay me when you get paid, no problem about that. It will possibly be near the end of the month anyway by the time they arrive.
Alex, I don't have his email, do you have it?
If you don't mind doing that Tony, then that'd be great thanks. Might as well take advantage of the bulk price discounts.
No worries Jamie, i'll add one on to the order for you then. Even if its just 2 we order we get the better price and hopefully not hit with tax. I'll do it say, late tomorrow evening to give 1 more full day for people to give me a shout but also just in time to meet their wednesday morning postage date. Does that give you enough time to decide Alex?
ill just email Rick to see if he is ok to upgrade them and what he charges i can't remember
alex
unfortunately he doesn't upgrade them anymore as he can't get hold of parts needed for the process

Hi All,
Wanted to let you know that the new Scorpion XXL is finished and entering production as soon as we can get the production PCBs in house.
This unit is larger than the Scorpion XL at 2.25 x 3.25 x .4 Will post pictures on Monday or so.
Power is increased over the old XXL and only a single layer of chips with heatsinks is used for increased reliability. The new unit does 20A continuous with no fan. 25A for 2 min. with no fan. 31A+ continuous with fan (tested for >15 min) at 100% PWM. Need to get larger battery to test peak current with fan. Probably >40A for short peaks. These figures are all for each motor channel.
Some new features:
- Switching power supply so no HV jumper or worries about voltage. More efficient and more current for 2.4G receivers
- Remote on-off switch connections
- Dip switch for options - no jumpers
- Button to enter cal mode
- Available plastic enclosure
- Victor/Simple-H style screw terminals for power connections using fork style crimp on terminals.
- Crystal on CPU chip for temp. stability
- Fan connections on PCB
- Lipo cutoff mode
- New Coast mode along with the normal Brake mode at zero speed
- Serial and RC software standard
Price will be similar to the old XXL. Not set quite yet.
hmmm interesting thanks Woody
Order for 2 XL's now placed
Cheers Tony. Amazing how my parts-recycling philosophy goes straight out the window waaaaay before I even get paid!
I think its a desire to win, this could be the one component that makes Carcinus a world beater haha
