Surgeon General tribute tournament
Hey guys, ive had this idea since i started reading P.T.T.R 6
Im doing this as a tribute to Julio Requeta, a part of the Surgeon General team until he passed away in 2005
The sign-ups then
I need 8 people to join, 1 robot each. HW bots, tracked, shuffler and walker weights allowed
It will be done with 2 leagues of 4 the top two bots in each group proceed to a final group. The top two go to the finals
and the bottom two will go for 3rd and 4th.

Damn it.
Ok the Robogames arena is a really large arena, its very plain, no hazards, but there is a drop out zone at one end that
requires a flipper to eject them from it. also the arena floor will be painted so Surgeon General is on the floor.

I will enter Mecha's Revenge

Shape: Box with side skirts and rear wedge
Colour: Black with silver horizontal lines on the sides
Dimensions: 100 X 75 X 36
Power: 2 X LEM-130's @ 36v powered by several NiCad's
Wheels: 4 X aluminium wheels with Asmaprene Urethane covering.
Speed: 15 mph
Armour: 6mm Ti/V alloy everywhere
Ground Clearence: 0mm on the sides due to skirts, and on the back. 5mm anywhere else (Including without skirts)
Weapon: 25kg Front Vertical Spinning Disc made from laser cut titanium, powered by 2 X LEM-130. This also has 4 Hardox teeth curved upwards, and it will spin at 3200RPM.
Srimech: At the rear, there is a linear actuated bar, and it can right the robot in 1 second.
Strengths: Deadly Weapon, Decent Pushing Power, Fast and effective srimech
Weaknesses: Hopefully, there is none. XD
Notes: Components Shock-Mounted to protect itself from other attacks.

COLOUR- red, with a jester's head painted on the top
WEIGHT- 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 100cm X 100cm X 25cm
SPEED- 15mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0mm
GROUND CLEARANCE- 10mm, but the wedges and Biohazard-esque skirts combined should give almost 0mm.
ARMOUR- 4mm Hardox
MOVEMENT- 4 inner wheels
POWER- 2 X S28-400 MagMotors; 3 x 12v 12amp NiCad packs, giving 36v
WEAPONS- the entire top panel of the robot is a flipping device, powered by 2 x 39mm Dia high-pressure rams and giving roughly the same flipping power as Mute. What way is it hinged? No way. The flipper fires straight up like, well, a jack-in-the-box.
SRIMECH- The flipper. Hopefully.
NOTES- flies Scotland flag, thanks to Joey for help
STRENGTHS- fast, strong, manoueverable, pushing power, powerful weapon, very difficult to get under
WEAKNESSES- It might have even more self-righting issues than Mute

Straightforward tactics here. Bludgeon Liar into the nearest wall, get it up on top of me and fling it out the ring. My wedges and good traction will hopefully give me an easier time getting under it than it'll have getting under me.

The Final Cut vs. Mudskipper
Andy, we must stop meeting like this! XD erm...it's a mudskipper, I'm not overly sure what to do with it. Spin up, avoid the disc, and see if I can jump on and stay on top of The Final Cut to see what happens there. Use the disc, hide under wet seaweed, crawl around, inflate lungs, maybe try and eat something. Or something like that. This isn't going to work is it :proud:

Vertigo vs. 7roubloon
I work the same either way up, so his flipper isn't that much of an asset other than OOTAing, so I'll stay in the middle of the arena as much as I can. Other than that, come at his flipper with the front disc and try to catch an edge. Due to the way his flipper works, I can catch one and most certainly send him spinning away. I would prefer to hit the side edge of the flipper though and try to bend the hinge, so he can't use it well/at all from that point on. Once I hit him, keep the rear disc pointed at him as defense until the front one is spun up. Also, 4mm Hardox is strong but not invincible, so I might have a go at his other areas. Don't let up, keep pounding him.

Vertigo vs 7roubloon
3..2..1. KILL!!!
Vertigo starts racing out of the traps as 7roubloon gets its discs going and drives to the centre of the arena, Vertigo
darts for the side of 7roubloon and gets a flip in, 7roubloon, due to being invertible, is unshaken and hits Vertigo before
the flipper goes down!! Vertigo is spun away in a shower of sparks, Vertigo charges in at 7roubloon, he tries to flip but
he misses 7roubloon, and 7roubloon gets another shot in, Vertigo now darts for the side, but 7roubloon turns and hits
the side, Vertigo is spun away once more and has a gash in the side of the armour, but its not a very big one, Vertigo is
not sure what to do now, and ploughs into the front of 7roubloon and flips!!!, theres a big dent in the front of Vertigo's
flipper now, 7roubloon gets to that right hand side were the damage is and charges!! the gash has been ripped open alot
further now, 7roubloon tries to get another shot in, but Vertigo sidesteps and gets another flip in. 7roubloon comes back
at Vertigo and hits that side again, now it seems that Vertigo has drive on the left but not the right, 7roubloon has seen
this and goes for the left, but Vertigo swings round and the side of the flipper is hit by 7roubloon, the flipper is crumpled
on one side, 7roubloon goes for the left again but Vertigo gets underneath and flips, it seems that 7roubloon's weapon
on the back has stopped working here, but i dont see that as a worry, as 7roubloon goes for the left once again. and its
3rd time lucky for 7roubloon and hits the side, leaving a gash there as well, 7roubloon hits that side once again and it
looks like something fell out, lets have a look at the replay, it seems that something did come out of Vertigo, it looked
like a nut or bolt, so no major worry, 7roubloon hits the side once more, Vertgo looks like its dead in the water, but it
looks like th weapon still works, 7roubloon darts to the right of Vertigo and hits, ripping the link out in the process!! wow
thats major damage, 7roubloon is now looking for a bit it has not damaged yet, and hits the back, leaving a big dent, it
seems that 7roubloon is back off now, 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1!!! the buzzer sounds

right...tactics,
after having a quick look at mecha's stats it looks to be a good robot, but im pretty sure my weapon can damage the sides, hopefully slowing it down/breaking it/other stuff. also from my experiance with real robots, when a vertical and horizontal disk meet, the horizontal usualy comes out of it better, so im pretty confident that if it does come to a head on disk vs disk collision, i will come out on top.
so my battle tactics are to aim for the slanted sides/rear with my disk and try to inflict as much damage as possible without meeting the nasty spinning thing, however if it does come to a head on smash, so be it :P

Before you write it off, remember this was Warhead's energy level in Battlebots. :P
In addition the rear/top has a few hardened steel chisel spikes sticking out of the kevlar/carbon fibre, again it's a mudskipper with all the features of a real one. :P
GIMMICKS: Hidden inside the base panel is a 4 bar flipping mechanism, this is run from medium pressure (400psi) CO2 stored in a 2kg tank and actuated within a 85mm bore ram acting on the front bar. This fires downwards and backwards from the base and, with the aid of a rubber coated 'foot' on the end, pushes on the floor and causes the robot to jump around about 4ft into the air and quite some distance forwards, usually landing on its base due to the gyroscopic forces of the disc. Mudskipper can also turn when jumping and the resultant adding of vectors will cause it to jump diagonally, in an arc, or rotate while jumping, making it very able to escape from danger. The ram is single acting and such returns immediately after firing.
SRIMECH: The top fin (basically a hinged arm attached to some fabric that opens up when used) is run off the same pneumatics system as the jumping, this time using a full bottle pressure 35mm bore ram to self right it quickly if inverted.
NOTES: Components shock mounted where possible to protect it from its own jumping. Will probably be able to get out of the pit given the chance (goes in on its back, srimechs then jumps out; goes in on its front, jumps out)

Next up, Liar 2 vs Jack-In-A-Box (Which i'll call JIAB for short)
3 2 1 KILL!!!
Liar 2 darts out, hoping to get under JIAB, JIAB turns and backs off, Liar 2 seems a bit baffled by that, and now JIAB is
on the attack! and gets under Liar 2 and slams it into a nearby wall!, what a hit, Liar 2 is unfazed though and comes in
on JIAB finding it tough to get under it, JIAB gets under again and gets it on the top, and charges to a wall, but Liar 2
only just dropped to the floor before the flipper could fire, but it shot JIAB in the air slighty, Liar 2 sees its chance and
flips, over goes JIAB, now JIAB tries to pop itself back over, but everytime it attempts to it comically shoots into the air
and smacks back down Liar 2 charges it towards a wall and flips, JIAB then fires the flipper and its luanched into the air
and lands on a bit of the arena side wall and onto its side, now it fires its flipper again, which boosts it away from the
wall and back up again, but unfortunatly onto Liar 2's flipper!. Liar 2 flips it back over, JIAB now comically fires its flipper
and starts moving across the arena on its side, a few laughs are heard in the crowd as Liar 2 get under once more and
flips. JIAB has now landed on its head again, JIAB tries to self right again this time it finally does!! which gains a bit of an
applause from the crowd, but it landed on Liar 2's flipper again, Liar 2 flips but this time JIAB stays up right, and it now
runs away from Liar 2, who chases in and closes in and JIAB gets under Liar 2 and gets it on the flipper and fires it! Look
at Liar 2 fly!, it lands to earth with a bang but is unshaken as it charges back at JIAB and gets under this time and takes
it towards a wall and flips, JIAB landed upside down, JIAB tries to self right again, but Liar 2 gives it a slight nudge and it
jumps out of the arena.
Good win for Liar 2 there

OID Vs Mecha's Revenge
Lets look at the history shall we
Mecha's Revenge is a 1st time competitor in the Crazy Bots hosted tournament's, and is hoping to use that 25KG disc to
get the job done
OID on the other hand has appeared in the main series of Crazy Bots since it began, but has never had much luck, in the
1st series of Crazy Bots, OID made it to the 2nd round before being beaten by Apocolypse 2. It was also knocked out of
the 1st round of the 1st X-Mas tournament, it made it to the heat finals of the recent series, were it was defeated by
Gabriel V. It's hungry for success here
3...2...1 KILL!!
Mecha's Revenge comes out, looking to cause so damage with it's disc, so does OID, but they are playing it safe, trying
to make no mistakes and give the other an opening, go on kill each other, OID driving it head first at Mecha's Revenge!!!
There is a loud smash that echoes around the arena, as both competitor's are knocked back, Mecha's Revenge does not
appear to have much damage caused to it, maybe the disc held OID's at bay, but OID has other idea's, OID goes after
the left hand skirt, it rips a hole in the skirt, but OID got a hit in the back from Mecha's Revenge as he swung round to
defend himself. OID runs away to get its disc up to full speed. It has. Look at the speed of that thing, it's frightening.
But Mecha's Revenge is giving chase as OID had his back to him. OID swings himself around and whack!!! a shower of
sparks litter the arena as both combatant's are thrown away. OID comes back in and hits before Mecha's Revenge could
react!!. Hitting the front there. OID aint stopping there though it quickly darts to the side were the exposed skirt is and
rips it off!!! OID backing off, and now charging the exposed side!!! ripping through but not tearing off the panel though.
Mecha's Revenge is going round and around, repeating the same turn like a stuck record. OID comes in with a charge at
the other side!!. Mecha's Revenge still has full mobility on that right hand side, but for how much longer. OID comes in
once again for another assault, but Mecha's Revenge manages to swing himself around just in time. What an impact. OID
was flipped up and over, but being invertable is vital for competitions like this. Mecha's Revenge went up a bit but ended
up back on his wheels. Both bots hit each other again with a shower of sparks before cease is called
Lets look at the judges scorecards: 10 for each category

Total: 32
Mecha's Revenge

The Final Cut vs Mudskipper
3..2...1.. LOLZ
The Final Cut comes out looking deadly while Mudskipper... erm. Mudskips along? Anyways, the Mudskipper skips to mud
town and cuts a rug on the dancefloor, ordering a drink of Skippermud from a mug of skipper. The Final Cut came in and
ordered some pie. To which, Kody walked in. Scratched his head, and walked back out. Then Joey and AJ make their
way into the bar. Ouch!, look were your going lads Joey began reading a book on how great the 80's were as AJ looks
over his shoulder to see Final Cut doing cartwheels across burning ashtrays and Mudskipper was telling of how i slipped
past the nets of Blackbeard the pirate. AJ was then pushed up to the microfone by Lian and they began to sing a hit
song. It went a little something like this

Vertigo races out of the traps, looking to avoid that deadly spinning disc of The Final Cut, Vertigo must win here or else
its out of the competition, The Final Cut needs to win to be safely through. Here comes The Final Cut now up to full its
max speed here, Vertigo charges in flip!! CRASH!!!. Sparks litter the arena as Vertigo is spun away, but Final Cut took to
the air and one of its tracks is now dangling over the side of the arena, the other track is still grinding away and is only
just touching the floor!!. Vertigo now moves in for the kill and flips. The Final Cut is thrown up in the air and lands on the
flipper of Vertigo. Vertigo goes for another flip! WOW. The Final Cut's disc whacked the side wall as it hit it and bounced
off the wall and back into play! AJ wipes the sweat off his eyebrows (Wait one sec. AJ do you have eyebrows or do you
have a monobrow?) The Final Cut is now looking to batter Vertigo for that scare. But it seems Vertigo is running away.
It seems an odd tactic, but Vertigo now turns round, and it charges head-on!!!! The Final Cut is flung through the air. It
seems Vertigo got the worst of it though, sporting a nasty dent in that flipper. The Final Cut now comes in with its own
attack here and smashes into the side of Vertigo. There is a big rip in the side of the armour, but Vertigo still fights on!
Vertigo now gets round the side of The Final Cut and gets underneath and charges at the wall and flips! The disc on The
Final Cut once again keeps him from going out, but he is now trapped on that side wall again, this time none of the The
Final Cut's tracks are touching the wall or the floor, nor is the disc!. Vertigo rushes in and flips and out goes The Final
Cut!! Thrown out of the arena here, but Vertigo needs to go to the pits and get repaired as the flipper a terrible amount
of damage CEASE

Mudskipper vs. 7roubloon
Should be fairly easy, actually. Calculate where he'll land and move to the side, if he jumps, and wallop him in the side. The rear disc should help very much with this. :)
Also, bugger. :lame: Forgot he was horizontal. Regardless, I seem to have far, far more force in my blows WITH EACH DISC, and Kevlar/carbon fibre armour isn't doing him any favours, so basically tear him a new one. :)

Similar tactics from me, Spin up ASAP and try to K.O him, if that fails...run around like a jugglers dog and blindly try to get him either in the pit or in some other type of obstacle... thing
