Fanfic Wars - Series 1

Just to point out right away, this is not a real tournament, it is a hypothetical. And I've done this before with limited popularity, it not having been on a forum this scale ( http://strickenone.proboards.com/index. ... 504&page=1 ). So I'm re-trying it here to kick some interest back into Fanfic.

It's a predicting game! 64 real robots and 64 vapourbots are participating, and the seeding is taken from what would have been Series 8 of Robot Wars, had all the seeds returned. I've done the line-ups, and I will post detailed results one heat each, round-by-round; thou shalt predict! The points are as follows...if you predict:

One Round 1 robot that goes through to Round 2, you get 1 point
Two Round 1 robots in separate fights - 2 points
Two Round 1 robots in the same fight - 3 points
Three Round 1 robots... - 4 points
All Round 1 robots... - 5 points

One Round 2 robot that goes through to the Heat Final - 3 points
Both robots... - 5 points

Robot that wins a heat - 5 points

Well, seeing as I've gone through everybody in my MSN list and gotten their responses, I'm going to post the first heat now. Anyone who wishes to join can still do so, even throughout the entire game. :) But I think it's time to get this started.

This is of course, sheer speculation - I don't even know anything about four of these robots, and I'm a bit distracted at the minute to look them up.

Heat A
Round 1

Typhoon 2 (1) vs. Obsidian vs. Darkestar vs. Intensity

The series starts with a bang. The realies take each other on immediately and Obsidian keeps getting pounded by Typhoon 2, taking hit after hit while trying to line up a proper shot. Intensity's spring-powered flipper doesn't do much against Darkestar's invertibility and after several blows from the vertical blade, Intensity's weaponry is inoperable. He does however manage to keep Darkestar's own weapon stalled a lot as he basically rams Darkestar around the arena. Meanwhile Obsidian is completely unable to get the axe into play and gets KO'd mid-way through the match. Typhoon 2 then goes off to attack the other two, deciding on Intensity. With its weaponry out Intensity can't flip over Typhoon 2 and takes more damage but manages to get Darkestar into the flame pit, angle grinders, and Sir Killalot. However it's just not enough and Darkestar inches past Intensity in the JD, Typhoon 2 having swept it.

Robochicken Evo (32) vs. E Clawdius Unum vs. 0001 vs. The Deer

In a fight of clampers, the flipper-and-axe clad 32nd seed is plucked immediately by The Deer, who manages to pull off what TAN couldn't, and pit Robochicken. Then the clampers/crushers fight each other. Ultimately, 0001's polycarb armour is no match for the remaining robots and he gives out near the mid-way point.

Typhoon 2 (1) vs. The Deer

The champ proved too quick and rather controlled, avoiding the claws the entire match and battering The Deer into submission before the full 5 minutes had gone.

E Clawdius Unum vs. Darkestar

Alex's fear of Darkestar's exposed tracks was unneeded. Clawdius did get a grip on them but only very late during the match, and was unable to snap it anyway. Clawdius itself took several blows from Darkestar's triangular flywheel and survived only to see Darkestar get the hefty JD.

Typhoon 2 (1) vs. Darkestar

Darkestar got one good hit in on the shell, but that was it. The champ proved too quick and manoeuvrable, and slammed into the sides of Darkestar fairly often. Although Darkestar's tracks were too tough to be jammed, it lost the judges' decision through aggression.
