A New Start A New Show

Hi, guys. You're probably thinking 'Elliot will cancel this and start cluttering up the forum with his loads of cancelled competitions'. I have a half sister now, so my responsibilities have widened a bit, but this is going to be a very short competition. I called 'FRFFT: Renewed'.

Since my first FRFFT competitions were, I felt, rubbish, I decided to start again.

I need six people to enter two robots each: one of their own and a real robot. The made up robots will be in one heat, and the real ones in another. They can come from anywhere, Robot Wars, Battlebots, Robot Wars Live, you get the story.

It's like a S6 semi final

3x1on1
1xlosers melee
2xone on one
2x through to the grand final.

Much like the first Dutch Robot Wars

I'll try not to do so many mistakes. Tactics will have to be handed in within 24hrs of me announcing a fight, though. Hopefully I'll be able to do this.

A question: If I decide to quit the forum, does my membership expire or can I come back way later? I am thinking about quitting, since my mind isn't into this right now, but I'll do what I can :)

That was the case with Nick. He was gone for around 5 years and came back just to mention that I didn't have V'Ger. So you can come back if you leave for several days/weeks/months/years.

Notes: A bar shaped translational spinner that can ram if stopped spinning due to it having two wheel drive.
The robots innards are pushed as far as possible to the sides to maximise weight there with the center being hollow.

Equinox vs. Absolution

Okay, he's 9cm from the ground. Still quite in range of my blades. Anyway, he'd have to have pretty low forks to slide them completely under Absolution without them getting hit, and if he did, it'd be a bit of a laugh. I mean, it's good to have long, low lifting weapons but trying to lift 200kg with thin, 60cm blades, even at the tip, is difficult. He'd probably lift himself over before lifting me. That's not to say that it won't affect me either, as I'd probably go flying out of control as well. Therefore, I'm going to lock the shell at 2000rpm (gives out just over 200+ kJ) and try to be as aggressive as a walker can be here (lol), before his lifters come into play. I'll spin up to dangerous speeds quickly enough. Operate the legs two at a time so I don't have too many stability issues and keep belting his front end and hopefully I'll take his weapon power out of commission before tearing him to pieces. :) If I fly out of control, I should be able to spin back up quickly enough before he can attack.

Stinger vs. Gravity

Stay in the middle of the arena, spin about, thwack overhead a few times and generally have a good ol' time with good ol' Gravity. :)

Seeing as that last post is being a pain to edit I'll put my tactice in a new post.

All Bar One vs IAN

Run away until up to full spinning speed then aim to hit IAN square on the sides or the back. Try to stay in the middle(ish) of the arena and avoid that flipper on the front of IAN.

If I happen to be stopped from spinning use the normal drive mode to run away and spin up again or ram him into hazards etc if he's too agressive and repeatedly stops me from spinning up.

Cassius II vs Panic Attack

Try to stack it and use the very large spike on the back of Cassius II to give Panic Attack a good poking if I can stack him.

Predictions:

Heat One:

Equinox VS Absolution: Absolution has around 100kj of power less then my own 1-hit Wonder. However, it's still enough to smash up Equinox.
All Bar One VS IAN: All Bar One's been a pretty successful design. It can ram, and it can spin. The fact that Jordan can do both and keep Jack on his toes will win the battle here.
N3 VS Wedga Triton: Wedga looks like a good choice.

Heat Two:

Stinger VS Gravity: Gravity can OOTA Stinger.
Cassius II VS Panic Attack: And Rex has a chance to get some revenge. And I think he will, as Cassius is low enough to get under Panic's skirts.
Orrion VS Bodyhammer: The former Iron Awe 4 to beat Bodyhammer to a pulp, even if the Team Cold Fusion's machine's hammer is working.

Equinox vs. Absolution

Ram in backwards at full speed, it should KO itself.
Equinox stats are in signature, as previously mentioned.

Panic Attack vs. Cassius 2

Cassius 2 was no good at getting under things in the 2 battles it had, and I have a 20kg weight advantage. Lift and pit.

The first battles will be on the weekend. Tactics in by then, please

If I do go down the pit with Cassius II then attempt to catapult myself out with the massive spike :proud:

i.a.n: all bar 1 eh? hmm i havnt faught a translational spinner befor, but having built one i know that they dont like being flipped while spinning, and my armor should hold, so just flip flip flip :)

orrion: err....flip :P i dont think he has a shrimec? flip him over/around/oota or smash him with the axe :)

N^3 will try to lift, clamp and pit Wedga, avoiding the flipper, and under no circumstances will I mess around trying to cause excess damage or crushing it without taking it to the pit; just grab it and drop it down the pit.

Bodyhammer will ram Orrion around using the power from the Bosches, and remind Mark this is the series 2 version. Avoid the flipper if I can.

Wedga Triton vs. N³

This should be good. No time for hanging around though. Go straight in, get under that 10mm clearance and start launching. If I can keep this battle short and fast-paced I should be able to dominate it. Once the first flip is in, I can take control of the match and try and throw it over the fence as soon as possible. Big and powerful flips, please. I hate crushers. :proud:
